Paediatric Potentials Occupational Therapy
In 2017 my son was diagnosed at 3 years 9 months with ASD2, Sensory issues, Speech Delay, Social Development Delay, GDD in 2017.Thankfully our wonderful Paediatrician Dr Aaron Easterbrook referred me to Gabby Smith at Paediatric Potentials. As any worried and concerned mother does when any child is given any medical condition, I called her office immediately to start my son's Occupational Therapy. My son and I went to regular weekly meetings at that time and then started to increase his visits with Gabby Smith twice weekly. To say it was a struggle for my little boy to stay still in one place and simply focus on one task and complete simple tasks such as building 3 blocks on top of another is an understatement. But with persistence and continuous practice within the amazing setting of Paediatric Potentials offices, I felt equipped with the skills to be able to follow through with things daily in the home environment.Gabby supported this by providing visual aids, which I would take home each week and have all around the house constantly working on the tasks Gabby had set out in the on site visits. This helped make sure the fluidity of OT practices continued daily at home, daycare and in any day to day activity. This took over 6 months just for my little boy to finally self regulate and start engaging within these activities and becoming comfortable within Gabby and her team's environment.I look back now with pride - not only for my little man who cannot wait to see Gabby, but at how far my son has come - he has achieved all the things I hoped he would! Since that time in 2017, we have also worked amongst Gabby’s team of amazing OTs as we decided to also introduce two other OT staff members - who had different approaches and methods - to work in conjunction with Gabby. We were able to start daycare visits, home programs, zoom & Skype callsm all of which took time for my boy to get used to.I cannot praise Gabby and her amazing team of staff more, the gratitude I have for them all is above and beyond what an OT office should do - in fact we regard them as a second family to us.My boy now aged 6 years & 3 months has developed in leaps and bounds, no longer is he a shy little boy who would wander around the room and not be able to focus or hold a conversation but one who speak to all the team the moment we arrive and bounds in the door to huge smiles and hellos from Karen & Jacinta at reception and all of the OT staff - who take the time to listen and interact with my son, who is talking non-stop about his week!Gabby you are a superstar and your team are amazing!I can only say to anyone that is reading this that it does take time, patience, continuous practice within sessions, at home & kindy and in time the accomplishments your child will learn and develop - it will astound you, just as it does when I reflect back - almost 3 years later..As always thanks Gabby & TeamHope xx

We absolutely love Paediatric Potential, our little one with Down syndrome has been seeing Gabby for the last 3 years since she was 2 months old. Not only do they provide an excellent service that has challenged our daughter but they are caring and compassionate, which is crucial when you are navigating the world of disabilities with your child. Would strongly recommend Gabby and her team.

Gabby did a wonderful job with my son who needed support to effectively translate his ideas into his writing - which can be tricky for a curious fellow who is easily distracted. The quality of his work steadily increased, as did his confidence, thanks to the practical strategies Gabby taught him and her ability to keep him on-task, combined with her patient and caring approach. Gabby explained how we could help support his learning as parents and made it a really positive experience. I can't recommend Paediatric Potentials highly enough!

My daughter has been attending OT appointments for 18 months at Paediatric Potentials and we love every second of it. All the staff are very helpful, understanding and it's obvious how much they love their jobs! Gabby and James have built an amazing team who have made it such a warm and loving family environment. Our therapist Ellen has gone above and beyond to help our family and our daughter who has made great progression. Anyone looking for an OT will not be disappointed.

My three children have been seeing Gabby for the last two years. Gabby has been the health professional that has been vital in my children being diagnosed and more recently preparingmy children for school.During regressions Gabby took all concerns seriously, promptly documented all concerns so that I had written evidence to take to specialist appointments and regularly followed up how my child was going during this uncertain time.Gabby provides individual therapy tailored to each child and nothing is ever too much to ask. Gabby is flexible in her approach and is absolutely amazing with children. My children love Gabby and the highlight of their week is going to Paediatric Potentials.
