Disclaimer: Please take this review with a grain of salt—this is purely based on my experience. If you fit their mould, you might enjoy working and/or engaging in their services.I was employed for a short time with this company, and the experience remains the worst employment I’ve ever had with anyone or at any place in my life. I commenced my role as an entry payroll officer without fuss, going out of my way to start conversations to know the three other workers as well as the owner and her daughter who was my supervisor. Despite my efforts, the workers would give a strained goodbye and hello whenever I arrived or departed, making me feel out of place immediately. The company owner was the worst of the bunch, consistently ignoring me as if I weren’t worthy of her time. This was despite her making a huge fuss over everyone else there. On one occasion, the owner took me into their kitchen to advise me to ‘calm my energy’ as it impacts everyone in the room. That caught me off guard as I arrived quietly and was understandably nervous to impress and learn the role. She additionally insisted she knew all these facts about my life such as me preferring to be called ‘Jessica’ (absolutely not! I prefer ‘Jess’ as anyone who knows me in passing would be aware of) and who my spirit guides were. There were otherwise few other interactions with this person. She bought gifts for one of the other employees often and fawned over her, barely acknowledging the other girl who worked to the same high standard as the favoured one. This is textbook workplace exclusion. My worst ‘crime’ was not catching onto their complicated processes within a week and being late one day despite notifying them. Additionally, when asking if I could arrive only five minutes early, they adamantly and passive-aggressively said no, implying I was out of place to even ask. I see nothing in my conduct that indicates I ‘deserved’ this.About a week or so after starting, they began taking the other three employees out of the room in a very obvious manner to talk about me. I also accidentally came across emails in our shared inbox discussing their wanting to terminate my employment. This eventually led to them requesting to see me in the kitchen. I sat down at a table where they handed me a letter without making eye contact. As you can imagine, this correspondence in essence was a week’s notice of termination, saying ‘unless I calm my energy and improve my attention to detail’, my employment would cease after a week. There was no communication prior to this to indicate any issues with my performance. In fact, feedback had been positive so this blindsided me, undermining my self-confidence and severely jeopardising my living situation. The energy thing confused me the most as it was and is hardly a substantive reason for termination (to say the least). Rubbing salt in the wound, they also preemptively assumed I would request to use them as a reference after how they treated me before asking if I understood the letter’s contents. I nodded and left the room in utter shock and disbelief. I saw out the week due to needing the money to pay my share of rent but left shortly thereafter, ending my meagre two and a half weeks of employment with these awful, hypocritical people. (I quote, ‘This isn’t working out,’ was my supervisor’s last words to me.)Seeing the other review from A compelled me to share my experience to reach out to others who encountered the same treatment from these charlatans. My intuition highly suspects I’m one of many workers they’ve sifted through and disposed of without thought. There is nothing inherently wrong with wanting to find the right fit but treat the ill-suited workers with dignity and respect, not passive aggressiveness and utter contempt. We are not stupid and can see through your ploys at exclusion. Please proceed with caution when engaging with this company. Their actions do not marry up with their ethos, and this incongruity should place you on alert.
