I have had the pleasure of being a student of Mackay Karate Centre for over 3 years now. Our head Instructor Sensei Lutie van den Berg (7th Dan JKA) is a passionate, dedicated and inspirational instructor, who is highly respected internationally. His instruction is world class - we literally have students from across Australia (and overseas) dialling in on zoom to attend his classes. Whether you are a new to karate, or have previous martial arts training (child or adult) you will find a class to suit your needs here at Mackay Karate Centre.

World class karate classes with a very passionate dedicated world champion Sense . They make sure that students get trained in the best of their ability. We are so happy our kids discover karate we’ve been there 7yrs and my kids still enjoy training up to now .

Sensei Lutie is an amazing teacher. His level of instruction is world class and anyone with enough knowledge and skill would agree. His decisions in the dojo with regards to Covid are to protect his students, his instructors and himself. Respecting your Sensei, his students and the dojo is paramount to practicing karate. His dedication to his students and the art is nothing short of outstanding.

Best Karate dojo out there with the best instructors you can find! Head instructor Sensei Lutie teaches all his students in a way that challenges us and encourages us all to improve. I’ve trained here for over 2 years now and I can’t imagine doing anything else!

World class instruction! Sensei Lutie van den Berg, 7th Dan JKA, JKA Australia National team coach. If want the best, go to the best Mackay has to offer! I travel 2 sometimes 3 times a week from Capella, a 700km round trip, just to train 2 hrs in Sensei Luties dojo. Worth every k and every minute of travel

World class karate, right here in Mackay. They offer classes for all ages and experience levels and I can't recommend Mackay Karate Centre enough. We love going to Sensei Lutie's classes as often as we can!
