Aquarium world have a great range of products and the staff are very helpful. They’ve been there in Manly as long as I can remember. I found the guy that I spoke to was incredibly knowledgeable and obviously very passionate about his aquarium plants. Some of the plants that they had in there were quite rare and different to any other plants I’d seen anywhere else. Now my tank looks a million bucks. Everyone that comes over always comment. Very happy!

Have been a customer of this store for at least seven years as the service and knowledge is what you’d expect from a specialist store, the team do well with this and also the product variety.Don’t sign up.Loyalty system has flaws as some team member ask, some don’t, it’s a paper card system which can be destroyed in the wallet or forgotten which means points can’t be accrued. Haven’t received anything for being a loyal and regular member & so what is the point of this business strategy? It hasn’t been well designed with thought.Don’t sign up.

Now one of my favourite aquariums in Sydney. All tanks were clean and couldn't see any dead fish. Great selection of tanks too. Fish looked healthy and the goldfish display is awesome.

Amphibian biologist here. My girlfriend and I visited Aquarium World yesterday just to have a look. I noticed that every single one of the axolotl salamanders were missing their feet. I watched as the axolotls continued to nip at each other’s stubs. I brought this to the attention of one of the employees and they reassured me that axolotls can regrow limbs. This is true, but the salamanders were clearly under stress and struggling to even move around their aquarium. I suggested that they separate them so they can heal. I was told that they “have a lack of space and are doing the best they can.” I don’t fault the employee at all for this, but it suggests bad management. If you don’t have the adequate space to properly care for your animals, don’t accept more animals. I worked at an aquarium shop in the US for years and we never had this issue with our axolotls. Not sure if they’re being underfed or housed together too closely? Before I left, I was then told that there are a surplus of axolotls and breeders unload all of the axolotls they can’t sell on the store. Isn’t that just creating a market for the breeders and exacerbating the problem? Especially when you’re selling them for $50 each? I don’t think any of this was intentional by the aquarium owner(s) but I think it’s a clear animal welfare issue and should be fixed.
