Was looking for a place to swim when we found this place. Interesting to look at and much bigger than expected. Anyway we decided to keep going so didn't stop for long here.

Eldorado Dredge
On visiting this attraction recently I was most impressed with the enormous scale of the machinery needed to excavate the gold and tin over a 40 year period. This is an excellent visit, and only just a ten minute drive to nearby Wangaratta. A hidden gem well worth the effort.

Great place to come and learn about some of the history of the area and the dredge. You can walk right into and around. And there is a couple of picnic tables if you decide to stop for a snack.

You don't realise how big the dredge is until you walk aboard and look at the scale of the equipment involved in this large scale mining enterprise. Done in the late 1800's till early 1900's, and just getting the dredge to the Gold fields then assembling...amazing no B double trucks or 4lane highway back then

Eldorado Dredge
Massive dredge which at the time of its commissioning was the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. It extracted over 70000 oz's of gold over its working life. The lake in which it sits is quite beautiful and the dredge is a must see if visiting Eldorado.

The Eldorado Dredge was a gold dredge operated in Victoria, Australia. It was used to extract gold from the alluvial deposits in the area. The dredge was in operation from the 1930s to the 1950s, and was one of several dredges used in the area during this time period. It was known for its large size and advanced technology, which allowed it to efficiently extract gold from the ground. The dredge was decommissioned in the 1950s and is now a popular tourist attraction and historical site.

Place is beautiful and speaks for itself!Definitely a must visit if you go through Eldorado on your travels.Place is safe and maintained by Parks VIC and has a few spots explaining the Dredges history.
