The Sands Torquay

Excellent accommodation with all new furnishings and fixtures. Full size pump packs shampoo etc of high quality. Friendly staff. Great for couples, families or golfing groups. Highly recommend

Positives- nice rooms (great shower, clean, good size) service desk very friendly, indoor pool very good clean and good size, also gyms looked good but didn’t use.Negatives- car park view in half the apartments (hard to block out car park lighting even with all blinds down), smoke detector blinking green all night, on site restaurant is terrible - very cold tiled floor, hard wooden chairs with no padding, ordinary food and quite expensive (3 pizzas, 1 schnitzel no chips + lettuce thrown onto plate, 3 drinks $140)Would I go back? Probably not unless it was a golfing weekend but you definitely need to go into Torquay itself to eat which is again super expensive so………overall, unless I was playing golf on site with mates I wouldn’t bring the fam there again tbh.

Stayed here for a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the privacy and cleanliness of this golf resort. Staff were professional, friendly and most hospitable from reception through to dining at Spikes.Overall, most enjoyable and memorable stay ever despite the pool not functioning. Well done The Sands !

Great hotel. One of the comfiest hotel beds I’ve stayed in! It gets busy in the peak season but the staff here were friendly and efficient. Rooms are fresh, clean and comfortable. Spacious and have great balconies and loads of natural light! Highly recommend for a trip down the coast!

We had a wonderful 2 night stay while we explored the Great Ocean Road. Walking distance to the beach. The staff are excellent, rooms clean and spacious, very comfortable bed and good tea/coffee/mini fridge amenities. We will definitely stay here again.

Dogs can stay. Nice room. Restaurant is ok but I guess most head to town for a bite.Would go again. Ground floor best for doggies.Pool was nice.

Coffee was great, housekeeping was appalling (I took my own rubbish out on the 3rd day, blanket was dirty and had numerous people's hairs on it and my handwash was not refilled), balcony overlooking the golf course was fantastic (but very dusty, dirty and furniture was covered in cobwebs), reception staff were helpful and professional. Room was comfortable and adequate.

We were looking for a venue outside of Melbourne to host our 2 day company offsite. We had come across The Sands and were taken away by its location and the layout of the venue.Monika who had taken care of us from the initial contact and to the end of the end event was wonderful to work with. Communication was constant and especially with all the constant changes we had going on last minute.With the actual day to day, we had Nat, Emma and her team take care of us. They were nothing but exceptional. No task was too big or too small for them and they were fantastic to work with. I can't thank Nat & Emma enough for taking care of our group. It makes a difference having exception service at your event and they shined. The relief I had every time they said no worries.Everyone had a fantastic time and alot of great comments with a few of them mentioning 'it was one of the best offsites so far'. It couldn't of happened without the team at The Sands for all their hard work. Meals were delicious and the team loved the selection of drinks on tap.Accommodation: Great layout, with all the rooms having balconies. Also pet friendly but we didn't have any. Easily accessible from the car park after checking in. Clean and modern beach vibes.Facilities: Fantastic wellness centre with a pool, cardio room, weight and squat rack room. Few options to choose for meals but great view from Bunkers, Shirleys or spikes or the outdoor area. Boardroom available as well for 24pax.Complimentary parkingConference: The space is not your normal conference room, it's a restaurant which is multifunctional. We preferred this to a normal conference room with no windows. The Shirley Bar had floor to ceiling windows/ doors with a view of the golf course. Amazing sunrise views. Nice property and location. Few minute drive to the main Torquay centre. We only stayed for 1 night during the week, slightly pricey for what it is (not weekend nor special event period). We faced the car park, would’ve been nice if we were facing the golf course. The hallway had unattended cleaning products and rubbish across the floor. Not sure why they were left there between the two days - not a good look. The bed was uncomfortable, the mattress sunk inward so it felt outdated. My husband had a round of golf, too much sand on the green, and some tee off spots were boggy.

No not all. Very dissapointed the room was not what we expected. We asked for balcony room and photos showed this at time of booking but instead got a car park room. Constant smoking on rooms outdoor area on either side of us. To top it all off tow truck in car park at 6am picking up a car. All reported to reception and photos and videos taken. Spoke to manager today who is leaving tomorrow and encouraged me to write this about the hotel he was leaving so there you go.The location was nice however that’s about it.
