Fabulous riding centre that arranged a horse trek for the family at short notice and provided a 5* service which was amazing!

Amazing place and service. They booked my family and I in on a 1 and a half hour trek around the hills of the property at short notice the day we rang to enquire. The scenery was amazing and horses were beautiful, they made sure to fit each riders capability to a specific horse. A great afternoon well worth every cent! Highly recommend to all no matter your riding experience, they cater to everyone.

The barn owner was absolutely amazing!!! So very kind and gave lots of good direction and even et us tack up and groom the horses ourselves! Went on an amazing trail ride with very well-trained horses around an amazing property! She took photos for us in front of some beautiful scenery and let us walk, trot, canter around the mountains and even jump over some obstacles if we wanted to. I would 100% recommend coming here and taking a lesson or going on a trek. Either way you will have a blast and learn something new!!!!

I had been riding at Golden Hills for 2 and a half years (currently have been riding at a new center for the last 9 months). Sharon is a good instructor who is very patient and understanding. The horses are friendly and well trained. While I thoroughly enjoyed my years at GH, I did pick up some bad habits that have been hard to correct, and I wasn't progressing at a satisfactory level. Also was not taught many groundwork or dressage skills, which are very important if you want to be serious about riding. There was also a helper who was quite nasty to me towards my last few months. Other than that, I think Golden Hills is a good riding center and I would recommend it to friends and family. Will definitely be coming back for one of the holiday programmes.

Had a wonderful trail ride with my granddaughter , who had never ridden before.The owner gave my granddaughter a little riding lesson and orientation about horses first and then we rode a beautiful trail on nice gentle horses.There's a riding arena suitable for lessons in western riding or English.Western saddles are available as well as English saddles.Prices are very reasonable.Everything is clean and well taken care of.I recommend this place for experienced as well as beginner riders !Beautiful location too with friendly welcoming people.5 stars !!!

Had a great ride with Sharon and a bunch of lovely horse minded ladies. The horse was great, and the views spectacular. Will be back.

Great place to take horseback riding lessons and trek. The owner Sharon was extremely kind and accommodating with scheduling me in. I also worked with Frankie who was high energy and extremely patient. The grounds are beautiful, as are the horses. I came as a complete beginner and had a great time with both lessons and doing a trek. Can’t wait to be back!

Great place to ride and learn about caring for horses. Sharon and her team look after the horses and the riders so well. We even had a fun ride at the beach yesterday and got to enjoy a few fast canters ! Trekking at the farm allows you to see stunning views of Nelson bay and the surrounding mountain ranges - so beautiful. The big outdoor arena is great to work in too - always fun. A highly recommended adventure to enjoy in Nelson.

We rode with Karo just after Christmas & it was one of the best experiences for myself & my two girls (10yr & 6yr). Karo is passionate about her horses & the region & the ride was perfectly timed & the scenery was stunning.It was great value for money & would highly recommend. We would love to come back one day. Sharon and her team matched my family with horses that were perfect for their skills. They felt safe and well cared for with personal attention and encouragement. The trek itself was lovely and provided just the right amount of challenge for the 3 of them. They had a great time. Thanks Sharon, you run a lovely, caring horse centre with happy horses.
