Essence Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Proud to say that after 5 years, this is the only gym that I have really resonated with and can call 'home'. Essence is without a doubt the best No-Gi gym in Perth, and the place to be if you aspire to train and compete religiously. It's very rare that you have an instructor that is constantly devoted to both studying and teaching the updated jits meta game. I believe this is one of the main reasons why Essence competitors have always been so successful in competitions.

Such a great family to be a part of! Just started all but 2 weeks but I feel like I've learnt HEAPS and improving so much, thanks to the great coaches and training partners. The coaches are all super knowledgeable, patient , friendly, and go the extra mile to make sure you feel welcomed and not out of place being a newbie, and the more experienced training partners are always helping guide others. I can never commit to going to a gym or training for more than twice a week but I've been going to classes at least 3-4 times a week since I started because it's just such a welcoming learning environment and a ton of fun! And the people you meet are just top notch! Well done guys!

Great BJJ gym. Jake and his team do a great job of bringing high level BJJ to Perth. Superb work. Jake being the most active national and international BJJ competitor means he runs a tight and professional gym for all levels from enthusiast to newbie. Highly recommend.

I joined early this year and already feel at home due to friendly and welcoming community the owner Jake has cultivated at the gym. My Jiu Jitsu has also improved greatly thanks to the high level teaching offered at Essence and time invested by the coaches into my learning.

I train in Sydney and dropped into Essense this morning for Sam's nogi class. Highly recommend this gym. Really good teaching, good class and excellent rolling partners. Everyone was really nice. I enjoyed the trouble shooting at the beginning which is something my normal gym doesn't do. Got to practice a knee shield pass and got some really good advice.
