Cattleman's Rest Motor Inn

I’ve stayed here a few times. I’ve never felt welcomed. I’ve been lucky to get a hello. I’ve certainly never been asked how my stay was nor have I ever received a welcoming greeting. Nothing is ever easy you even have to ask for a toaster. The small, dull, soulless rooms reflect the personality of the owner. He’s been here forever and doesn’t seem to like himself, his guests or his business. On my last stay a reasonable request was met with aggressive, nasty behaviour and I was told I wasn’t welcome to stay in the future…now I’m one of the lucky ones who can never again make the mistake of paying to stay here.If the atmosphere you’re looking for is hi-vis blokes and alcohol, you have low expectations, don’t mind being yelled at and don’t require basics like toaster, microwave, plate or knife this is the place for you.

Very basic room. It was poorly set up with no bathroom sink. Had to come into the kitchen" area to brush your teeth and wash hands after using the bathroom."

What sort of Hotel doesn't have the basics like: Toaster, plates, bowls, knife and forks???No sink in the bathroom, the (lets call it a) Kitchen sink was a vanity bowl in the room so no privacy if you like a private bathroom to shave or something also not hygienic when also preparing food (not that you can with nothing to prep it with)The pool was dirty, full of leaves and insects, we had to take the kids to the local pool, I'm glad it was only 2 streets awayIf they charged about $95 for a night then ok, but $160... ha, what a lot of cr*pI guess a 2 star is even a bit too much, but I guess the bed was OK as far as hotels go

Great spacious room, couch, table and chairs, microwave etc. This was our 3rd stay here. The newly refurbished bathroom was a nice surprise. Our meal ordered through room service was so good. Restaurant never disappoints. Staff very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Impressed with the size of the room, comfort of the bed and quality of the upgraded bathroom. Very clean and comfortable, would definitely recommend and choose to stay there again.

Air conditioner did not work so very warm night with a baby on no sleep, cockroaches running around, floor was dirty and when asked about the restaurant was told no nothing here yet when looking on websites and in room information book that was the main reason we stayed there with a baby, very disappointing and room was very outdated

We were in Charters Towers for a family event. Check in was smooth and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are great and the air-conditioning was welcome. We ordered room service for breakfast and dinner and the food was fantastic. It was a small stroll to the park for the Sunday market. Would recommend staying at Cattleman's Rest Motor Inn.

Got to the motel and got told the charged had increased. When we objected to the extra charge we we told that the credit card was going to be charged anyway. Very arrogant man. We booked a family room, no plates , cutlery toaster which would have been expected in a family room and jug had mould in it. The other room we booked smelt musty and wasn't what we actually booked. Shower was hot though.

Great spot to stay and eat. Comfortable and spacious rooms are kept spotless. The food from room service is the best in town. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Great pool. Good location.
