Ocean Star Fish & Chips

Don't know if it's new owners recently but the food was awesome... don't miss the Home-made Calamari rings and crispy Potato cakes.. the Scallops are monsters as well...All yummy

I really like the fish and chips here. The prices are good, the food is nice and the staff/owners are friendly. Though sometimes they give me what feels like a lot of chips, which isn’t so great since they taste horrible when they’re cold.Edit: the chips taste great when they're hot, I usually get food directly from the shop, but since I eat through them slowly, the last half of the chips are cold by the time I get to them - pretty sure the only way to improve is if I ate faster or shared the chips with someone

New owners. No longer as clean.Soggy, soft chips with old chips added into the fresh ones - obviously cooked a long time before, possibly yesterday? No longer gluten-free available. Thick batter on fish and potato-cakes which was not cooked through.Shut between 2 and 4.30 daily and on Sundays.Sorry Ocean Star, you've lost us as customers.

Driving around doing maintenance jobs worked us up quite an appetite. It became apparent that we were in need of some tato cakes and chippies to vitalise our bodies. After much googling we struggled to find the right fit to curb our hunger. However, the stars aligned and it turned out Ocean Star was actually located opposite our last job of the day. Wouldn’t read about it. So we figured we best take her for a spin. Many good signs on arrival, a clean work space and friendly greeting. It was apparent that the chef took his craft seriously and knew how to execute. “6 tato cakes and a large chips with extra salt thanks”. After the 10 mins had ticked by we were blessed with a paper bag from heaven. Perfectly crispy chips with a spot on amount of chicken salt. Our eyes lit up as we gazed upon those little peculiar cakes of happiness. Their shiny, crisp edges and perfectly imperfect shape put a smile on our faces. And don’t get me started on when we realised they had given us a 7th at no extra cost. Do yourself a favour

Great fish and chips with 5 star service. Always friendly and welcoming. Fish is consistently fresh with light, crispy batter, the potato cakes are amazing and the lamb souvlaki is delicious. Portions are generous and great value. Worth the drive past other local competitors to come here.

Flake and butter fish was fresh and tasty. The batter goes soggy on the underside within a few minutes, next time I'll ask them to wrap the fish separately to the chips. The batter itself is light, crispy and tasty. They make the best fried Mars bars I've tasted, dipped in cinnamon sugar. Chips are average. Prices are good value. My kids ate the fish from here, so I will be going back for more.

Great little fish and chip shop! The chips are the best you can buy in the area and they do a great souvlaki
