Prima Piano

Prima Piano is an exceptional piano school with a rare ability to develop all aspects of aspiring musicians whilst being highly engaging and enjoyable. Elizabeth and Geri Green are outstanding teachers whose life-long dedication to music and deep expertise enables them not only to teach at a very high level but also to tailor their teaching style and repertoire to best fit each student. Our two children aged 10 and 12 are both drawn to music, however are in many ways at opposite ends of the spectrum: type of music they are drawn to, interest and focus on improving their technique, aspirations to perform vs create music, desire to perfect fewer pieces for longer (including for competitions or exams) vs moving through a wider repertoire, and ways by which they absorb new information and develop skills. Elizabeth and Geri manage to equally develop critical core piano skills and a broad classical repertoire in both children whilst including different degrees of jazz, contemporary music, composition as well as theory and history of music as part of every lesson. As a result both children adore going to piano lessons and always emerge inspired, confident and eager to learn. Piano students in Sydney will be hard-pressed to find teachers in the same league as Elizabeth and Geri in terms of their depth and breadth of musical knowledge, the vast library of music they enable students to learn from, their talent as pianists, the generosity with which they impart their skills and the care they have for the development of their students.
