I have had the pleasure of studying Beginner Spanish on 2 occasions at Neil's Travelling Koala"

Absolutely amazing course! I started as a beginner and this course really helps you get a hold on the language especially when trying to communicate to one another. Neil is sensational and the classes are always fun. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn Spanish no matter what level you are.

This place is amazing for learning Spanish. I had such a wonderful experience here and would highly recommend it to anyone. The personal attention and care they give to each student is truly top-notch. The classes are kept small, allowing for more individualised attention from the teacher and a sense of community. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual.The teacher we had for all of our classes had spent many years living in Latin America and demonstrated not only a deep understanding of the Spanish language, but could draw on cultural references and stories of his time there to help us better understand the application of the language to real-world scenarios. I think this kind of teacher is the best of both worlds - someone who grew up with English as a first language and can understand where we’re coming from, in terms of the similarities and differences between the two languages - and who has also lived and breathed Spanish for years.The custom-made materials that they provide are also a huge plus, particularly considering it’s no extra charge. The lessons themselves are perfectly paced, so you never feel like you are falling behind or being rushed. We continued for four consecutive courses and would have continued if it wasn’t for moving interstate.

He takes the time to explain why certain mistakes were made and how they can be avoided in the future. This approach helped me to improve my reading and writing skills as well as boosted my confidence.Neil also offers a variety of resources which are tailored to the specific needs of his students. Hola a todas! Neil is my second Spanish teacher and I'm so happy to have found The Travelling Koala in the midst of Covid. The Zoom classes have allowed me to join from regional Vic and I've moved from Beginner A to Intermediate B (with a short hiatus) within 18 months. I like the clear lesson plans, the small group sizes, how Neil knows exactly what I'm trying to say and corrects me in a nice manner, the encouragement, the laughs and homework, as it all allows for a positive and engaging experience. I like how I can make jokes in Spanish now and dream in Spanish too! I'm looking forward to continuing with Neil until I'm (dare I say it) fluent!
