Langdon Building

We are at the final stage (Just finishing off the internal fixing/painting) of building our family home with Langdon in Ballarat. I have been extremely impressed with Langdon. They have made the process simple and stress free. They are also reasonably priced and have much higher quality standard inclusions relative to other well known builders we originally consulted. Also unlike some other builders, they didn't price gouged us when we upgraded a few items.We are particularly impressed with how quickly our build has progressed (Soil works commenced mid October and handover expected in early Feb), with each stage being completed to a very high quality. We are particularly pleased with our build team: Brett (our site supervisor) and Amanda (our construction administrator) who have both kept us informed and have been very prompt in addressing any questions or changes we made. You guys truly are an asset to Langdon. We highly recommend Langdon!

We regret about choosing Langdon builders. Very stressful journey with building. Last 4 months SS keep lying to us about handover. I will not recommend anyone to build with them.

5 and 1/2 years on we still love our Langdon custom build and even though there were a few bumps along the way we got a great result and com. the only downside is the finish quality of the Southern Star double glazed windows which are very poorly finished....

When is a contract not a contract? When you sign on with Langdon Homes. We signed a contract June 2021 with the building industry in the situation it was in we were offered a 9 month price freeze on the contract. What happens after 8 months? The office admin/customer service girl rang to say the price has gone up over $20,000! But what about the price freeze? There is a clause in the contract which gives them a 'get of jail' card. They obviously wanted us to pull the contract as pressure was applied to have a answer to them in 5 days. They have never apologised or even sympathized we just received a very impersonal email. We did receive our deposit refunded. As a first time home owner this has been a very stressful situation and wasn't helped by Langdon Homes unprofessional dealings with the whole situation.

Been in the house coming to 2 years in August and still don't have all the fixtures fitted. Last visit to complete the last of after care issues, 2 toilet holders were given to the tradesman (we have 3 toilets)! The fan in the lounge was making a sound when we had it on; the tradesman found it was not screwed into the ceiling timber but to the ceiling plaster board. Lucky it didn't break from the plaster and hurt/kill anyone. Even though it was fixed, it is still moving around and making noises when the fan is open. The towel rail which was installed in the ensuite was longer then the space available and the tradesman was able to cut it to fit in the space.Since the tradesman's visit, the aftercare manager has not bothered to ring me and reschedule another date to finalise our house.I had rang over 2 months ago to speak to the manager above aftercare manager, but have yet to get a call back.Would never build with them again. The total stress of this built process has been too much.

Unfortunate that it has come to this, I had no issues with Langdon building until about 6 months ago. I am not even a client of Langdon’s. We had them sign fencing contracts when we moved in to allow us to put our fences up. (Langdon have properties next door to ours) Shortly after this Langdon needed to pull our fences down to brick their property due to being too close to the fence line. I came home from work one day to my dogs running around on the street, Langdon had taken my fence down and were on my property without me knowing. They had the audacity to let themselves in and not contact the owner. I then had to lock my two dogs in the garage for approx a week at a time as I had no fence up. When the fence was eventually put back up it was left damaged and my garage now trashed. Not only this, the photos below are how the bricklayers LEFT our property. We offered to take our fence down to help them out and this is how we get treated. We now have emails stating the work will get completed and photos of the damage and they have stopped contact with me. How much does one person need to text and call until they do the right thing? I’m not even a client and this is how they treat me. Is it because we are not spending money through them that they think they can walk all over us? I DO NOT recommend this building company to anybody.

Company did a fantastic job under very difficult circumstances last year. Maintained their time frames, did what they said they would, when they said they would and delivered a very high quality home! Reassuring to deal with professionals who obviously knew what they are doing - I am amazed with what they achieved in what must have been the toughest year for builders!! There are some very tough critics out there it seems - not me - well done Langdon!

We are very fortunate to have chosen Langdon to build our wonderful home. From the onset, the HPC (Karleen) & Site Supervisor (Cameron) have been amazing. They have understood our needs and helped us build a home that we are excited to live and work in. We are very close to handover at this stage and super excited...love our homeRochelle & Dean

We had great experience with Langdon from start to finish. Andy is a brilliant new home consultant helping us finalise the perfect floor plan for our block, Molly was so helpful with our colour consult process and Brett did an amazing job as site supervisor getting our home built incredibly quick. We couldn’t be happier with the process.The experience was smooth and enjoyable for our first time and we would definitely build with Langdon again.

We had nothing but issues from start to finish with our build. One month past moving in now and we’re still waiting on our hot water service to be installed correctly due to them not organising the concrete pad correctly. We’ve been assured every week it will be done since moving in but still waiting on a date. Unfortunately this is just one example and has been a frequent occurrence throughout our build where they promise tasks will get done in a time frame and never happens even close to their timeline. Langdon building are an unprofessional company with serious staff retention issues. We went through 5 or 6 site supervisors and 2 home consultants in our 12 month construction phase. Shane Langdon even called us one day but had no idea about our house or any of the issues we’ve had, just wanted to give us a sob story about the building industry. Other houses in close proximity to ours started well after ours and finished well before. If you choose to build with langdon building you better cross your fingers you get one of the few reliable site supervisors or know someone within the company, seems like this is the way to get a positive experience.
