Rainbow Beach Houseboats

Just met Lynne, David and Sherlock (4 legged baby) from Rainbow Beach Houseboats. So lovely and passionate about what they do.

Great week on the water. Lynn and David were really helpful with all aspects of getting us ready for a our week away. The boat was spacious and well set up for self catering. Fixed private mooring points in the creeks make it easy without having to set the anchor every night, which the other hire companies don't have access to. Plenty of wildlife spotted with dolphins and turtles in Kauri creek.Highly recommend.

Always a cracking holiday! We all had so much fun! Awesome set up, plenty of room. Dave and Lynn are top people! Have been a few times now, will go again!

Spent 5 nights with the family last month. Saw lots of wildlife and caught some good fish. The boat itself was very comfortable with everything we needed. So glad we chose these guys as having their own mooring bouys there was no concern slipping anchor in the night which we had once experienced in the past. Their bouys are also located in calm water so perfect for sleeping.Our daughter and friend loved zipping up the creeks exploring in the tender.Really helpful owners and very friendly. Nothing was a problem. Highly recommend this company.

My experience with Rainbow Beach House Boats was overall less than favourable. The handover/familiarisation was fast and any questions were answered abruptly and/or shut down. The vessel was an executive Scarborough, once onboard and famil swiftly completed we were underway. I’m a seafarer of over 40 years experience in all types of vessels as well as teaching maritime skills through TAFE. My expectations for this adventure was high expecting a well maintained and presented unit. Well as we departed I found the 12v socket for charging phones or tablets was defective (did not work at all) I require a CPAP machine and was assured there was plenty of power to accommodate this. I addressed this several times and checked at the famil about 12v outlets. This was brushed over and I was given a 240v extension cord to run from the main cabin because there are no other 240v outlets throughout the vessel. Actually there were no other 12v outlets internally and only one single 12v outlet on the aft external bulkhead.This was disappointing as I would expect there would be at least one in each cabin and in the main saloon. The ventilation in the lower sleeping area, (2 double beds separated by a curtain), was extremely pathetic, a plastic 4 inch blade fan which did nothing. Again, in todays technology we have excellent low current 12v fans available serving caravans, trucks, boats etc. yet this executive houseboat had no internal airflow except windows and doors which were ineffective and no good in the rain.The temperature during my stay was in the mid 30’s so it was very hot and stuffy inside. Quite unbearable for the party I was holidaying with. Once again air conditioners are modern, compact and inexpensive and fitted on boats, caravans etc. A small generator could be easily fitted for the summer months. These are fitted to buses, boats and even caravans carry them.It would be exceptional to have these modern commodities fitted to the executive and luxury houseboats.Once we were underway we found the kitchen sink leaked into the cabinet below and a bowl was underneath and full of water. This indicated that the leak was known and nothing had been done about it. The upper deck was a good space but there was no cover with the exception of a small Bimini which offered no protection. This area could be enhanced with a decent cover to protect the patrons on board. The front deck was adequate although uncomfortably awkward for a party of 6 trying to sit around a round table with the anchor cable running through the middle of the deck.On return, I asked the owner if there was a defect register or the like to record any defects. I explained that I wanted to let them know the 12v socket did not work and the leaky pipe under the sink. The response was terrible and not wanting to hear of any issues. I explained how the ventilation could be improved and how unbearable it was being onboard in such heat with no ventilation. Despite many excuses and trying to shift blame I was informed they intended to remove the fans because they were problematic. I hope they replace them with suitable efficient 12v fans.Overall my experience was ok, I caught some mud crabs and sharks but the comfort level was far below the bar of what I would expect of an executive or luxury houseboat.Regards AC

Great week away, very reliable boat, and great service provided by the owners.I will be back.

Already looking forward to coming back, we had originally booked to come over easter but due to COVID our original booking was cancelled. The owners offered to move the booking to September or give us a refund. I am so glad we opted to still come in September as the holiday was everything we could have wanted and more. The locations around Fraser island and Rainbow were incredible, we caught lots of crabs and fish. The owners offered to best advice on where to go and the private moorings ensured we slept easily at night. Thanks again and we'll see you again next year.

Apart from the great hosts. This is a bucket list adventure that every one should try. We learnt boat craft from scratch and survived 4 days and nights. If we can do it anyone can. The wildlife and sunsets with magic night skies, plus perfect peace and tranquillity made it something to remember. Thank you David and Lynne.

Had a fabulous time on our houseboat. Weather was super windy which didn't let us explore as much as we would have liked to but houseboat very comfortable with plenty of room for the four of us. David was fabulous, quick with communication and full of information. Will have to get back again in better weather.
