The Cornelian Bay Boathouse
Last time we went it was something to rave about. This time not so muchStaff brilliant.Environment pleasant. Both let down by the food.Partner had ling.Looked great but bland.I ordered fillet Mignon.Fillet steak has no real flavour so it needs a herb like rosemary and butter to bring out its true beauty. This was grilled bland, sat in a sauce, I suspect from a can. Topped with bacon, slightly burnt and chips that tasted like the frozen type.Less than pub meal standard at $42.00.We had dessert.Apple crumble. Excellent.White chock cheesecake, great texture but tasteless.Hopefully next time ir will suprise again.

Nice place on the water. Interesting art works on the wall. Decent sized meals.

We visited here to discover, whether this was the place to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It was in the afternoon and quite empty. We were directed to the adjacent kiosk. Ambiance: less than a truck stop: dirt floors and rickety furniture, uncomfortable chairs and practically no view unless one craned ones neck.Practically raw walnut brownie, which would have been excellent if sufficiently cooked. Moccas 7.5.Wish we could have given you a better review.Might give you another chance. All the best.

Absolutely delightful.Fish and seafood are great, even poultry and meat are outstanding. We came here on the first day of the trip and we made sure we had another meal before we left Hobart.Staff provided excellent service, also the view is amazing when the weather is good.

May 2022: The Cornelian Bay Restaurant remains a four star rating. We attended again a few nights ago, and service, although good, was patchy, with a different member of wait staff attending the table each time, with limited communication between them. Still stuck in the early 2000's the décor is still not retro enough to be cool again. Bread was served as a slice of French Baguette for each person, however the bread was freezing cold, as it it came directly out of the fridge. The dip, which looked like olive oil and balsamic vinegar, turned out to be honey and possibly vinegar or molasses... I'm still unsure. The Oysters (natural and Kilpatrick) were delicious, the main seafood chowder was huge, and overfilled with supermarket quality seafood mix. I would have preferred less seafood of a higher quality, and more of the delicious chowder broth. The Turkish delight parfait was lovely, however I was expecting Turkish delight infused flavours, rather than chewy drops of packet Turkish delight hidden inside. Don't get me wrong, the meal was delicious, but not fine dining quality, rather upmarket bistro.May 2021. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've always passed the Boat House and intended to try it out. The location is wonderful with a beautiful outlook over the bay and the Tasman Bridge. The Venue itself is quite dated, with designs that are stuck in the late 90's to early 2000's. Give it another twenty years and it'll be retro cool". Meals were on the dearer side for what was offered and portions presented

It is a house with a boat in the roof. Not very obvious to find at night. Great view of the Tasman bridge. Taster is a failure. If you try to promote your entree items in a sample size you use good examples. Only thing I liked here is smoked salmon. Chowder is basically undercooked potato chunk soup. The flavor is ok but content is poor. Squid strips are tough and dry with a dash of overly sweet balsamic dressing. The mains were very good. Special snapper was lightly seasoned and fresh. Veg is perfectly cooked. Mash is delicious! Ribeye is very meaty and juicy. Fantastic gravy and potato chunks on the bottom. Potato works well with mustard sour cream.

Seafood chowder was stacked full of prawns, shrimp, scallops, fish in a delightful broth. The seafood Taster plate was such a bounty of delicious flavors and unexpected seasonings. Fabulous unexpected afternoon treat

The Cornelian Bay Boathouse
Flew in from Brisbane a few hours earlier and then picked up my Aunty. Looking for somewhere nice for lunch we came across this place. The water views from outside the establishment were enough. We went in without a booking and were made very welcome. The atmosphere, the views of the Tasman Bridge, the food and the amazing staff made our lunch a very memorable one. Prices were responsible, food was fresh and delicious. Really recommend giving this place a go.
