Travelled an hour to the Koonwarra Farmers Market this morning keen to buy some lovely, fresh local fish only to be met by the most unpleasant man I think I have ever dealt with. My Husband was very interested in the flounder and garfish but seemed to offend this man by asking the per KG price of the fish! I wouldn't have thought this was an unreasonable question as the labels didn't have the per KG price on them. I then went on to offend him further by asking how he would suggest cooking the flounder...this was met with a shrug of the shoulders and an exasperated I don't know...I have no idea!". He showed us the tray of flounder but when my husband asked about the garfish the man proceeded to pretty much ignore the questions and sit back in his chair!My Husband then said "clearly you're not interested" and the response was "no

Farm gate for seafood, I like it. Do phone ahead of visiting as them selling out is a possibility.

Watched the fisherman unloading their catch of whiting. The shop was not open,but upon asking,we were still able to take home some lovely fillets of whiting,flathead and flake.

Called into Port Franklin fresh fish today on way home to Wonthaggi, purchased tray of fresh Flathead Tails. Wow..we Enjoyed these filleted, deboned flathead tails this evening. Lovely fresh taste, thank you, we will be back. For some more.

It is just a really nice place. The General store serves great fish and chips - they are really fresh and owners are friendly.
