We asked Chris Steel Designs to help us design our new home. Chris was more than helpful. We found him to be patient with all our questions and ideas. Great communication. We didn't have to worry about any paper work, he organized everything that is needed for the build to go ahead. The complete finished plans, made it much easier to get quotes, as the builders were all quoting from the same plan. And the builders all mentioned to us that the plans were exceptional. Being always approachable and available, I would certainly recommend Chris Steel Designs, to anyone wanting great service.

Chris took the concept we put to him for our house and pretty much nailed it at the first attempt. We made a few changes and he talked us out of a few others which we now realise was the right choice. All up the experience was painless and positive. The builder had no major issues with the design and we ended up with exactly what we wanted.

Designs and plans from CSD are of excellent quality. However, customer service is poor. We found it seriously stressful trying to work with this. We couldn't ever get an accurate timeframe for when work would be completed by. We asked for estimates for how much we would likely have to pay and were only ever given approximates.We had to chase information and updates as we weren't kept in the loop otherwise.We got our original design and plans revised as our builder of choice told us a few ways to save money on our build and make it more effective for our circumstances. These new plans took 11 months to be completed. All we got was a thank you for your patience" when we finally received them.Part of the reason for why they were so lengthy is because communication was so poor.Got told that they had tried to contact us in December of 2021 to source the information needed from the architect at our chosen building company

We engaged Chris Steel to finalise our architect’s drawings and requirements specification, put the project out to tender and assist with the selection of a builder. We are extending our farm house located west of Hamilton, a 1960s Mt Gambier stone single level house.Chris and his team completed the work within the budget and timeframe resulting in the successful engagement of a builder. Chris was completely professional during the project, and was easy to get on with. The documentation produced gave the builder all the information required, and we anticipate minimal variations due to the detailed specifications.The best thing about Chris is he listened to us, understood our requirements and gave us the design for our extension that we visualised based on his skill and expertise. He also has many good connections with members of the building trade in the Western District who helped with specifying and quoting.We would be very happy to recommend Chris and his team, and would be more than happy to discuss over the phone and give a verbal recommendation.

Chris and his team were able to create and produce the design of the home we required on a demanding block with all required permits and reports ready to start the building stage.
