Willunga Beach and beaches close by are an amazing experience to kayak along. Watch the wind directions for a safer lunch and return to beach

Port Willunga Beach
Port Willunga Beach is a stunning destination for anyone who loves nature, history and adventure. The beach is located about 35 km south of Adelaide, and features **golden cliffs**, **crystal clear waters** and **soft white sands** that squeak between your toes[^2^]. It is also home to the **Port Willunga Caves**, which are natural formations carved by the sea over thousands of years. The caves are a popular spot for photography, especially at sunset when they glow with warm colors[^4^]. The beach also has a rich history, as it was once a busy port for grain and slate exports. You can still see the remains of the **Port Willunga Jetty**, which was built in 1853 and destroyed by a storm in 1915[^1^]. The jetty is one of the most photographed landmarks on the beach, and adds a touch of nostalgia to the scenery. If you are into diving or snorkeling, you can also explore the wreck of the **Star of Greece**, a ship that sank near the shore in 1888[^1^]. The ship was carrying wheat and passengers, and 18 people died in the tragedy. The wreck is now home to various marine life, and can be seen at low tide[^4^]. Port Willunga Beach is not only a place to relax and enjoy the views, but also a place to have fun and try new things. You can go for a walk along the coast, swim in the calm waters, surf the waves, fish from the shore or the jetty, or have a picnic on the grassy area above the beach. There are also several cafes and restaurants nearby, including the famous **Star of Greece restaurant**, which offers delicious seafood and stunning views along the coast[^1^]. Port Willunga Beach is one of my favorite places to visit in South Australia, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a beautiful and memorable experience. It is a place where you can connect with nature, learn about history and have some fun at the same time.

Port Willunga Beach
We visited Port Willunga twice in 12 months and the second time was better with less crowds end of March. The tide was out further than our first visit and it was still just as beautiful

Amazing Long Beach with spectacular cliff faces. The water is so clear with beautiful sandy beach. We’ll protected from southerly winds. Stand up paddle boards were available for hire on the beach. Fantastic amenities with toilets and showers available in the car parking area. The Star of Greece also provides a cafe for affordable lunches and drinks. No cars in this beach also makes for a more relaxing experience. Overall an amazing beach, probably my favorite on the peninsula.

Beautiful beach. Clean area. Good for taking photos as there are caves where fishermen used to store their boats and nets. Incredible rock formation. Many dogs whilst we were there. Ample parking area with toilet facilities.

There is something magical about this place! From the beautiful beaches, the caves to take shelter in on a hot day to the water which is just so refreshing. This is a beautiful part of the South Australian coast.A must stop if you're in the area with some lovely food options near by. Grab some food, have a picnic on the beach and then cool off in the water.Stop by during sunrise or sunset to take some lovely photos.
