The Gatehouse Victoria

My Mum and I have made visiting The Gatehouse an annual tradition on the way to our week-long crafting holiday. I absolutely love the vibe of this cafe, and the staff are super friendly. We love cemeteries (Mum does a lot of genealogy) and this is a beauty. The cafe makes my little goth heart happy. In terms of food, the menu has a good variety, and I love that there are different flavours of hot chocolate to choose from! (Can confirm the orange flavour is fab). There’s a great variety of sweets too - the mint slice was great. Definitely recommend! Would love this as my regular cafe if I was a local.

Great location with quiet neighbors, unique caffee that has to be tried. Friendly staff serving good coffee add cakes in comfortable surroundings.

Delicious cakes. Quirky interior. Interesting location. The cemetery is beautiful place to have a stroll after enjoying a bite to eat. I particularly liked the New York cheesecake.

Wonderful hidden gem. Great food and lovely quiet atmosphere. Perfect for a light lunch.

My mother-in-law resides at a nearby residential premises. The Gatehouse Cafe is within walking distance so I’ve been attending on every visit to Ballarat.The Gatehouse is a beautiful historical building in the serene setting of the cemetery. The grounds staff must be credited with maintaining the grounds gardens. Ballarat soil provides for excellent growing conditions with an array of trees, shrubs, and flowering plants; Lots of beautiful roses at the right time of year.Weather permitting I love to sit outside under the shade of the trees. The seating is simple outdoor metal tables and chairs. Inside is comfortable environment. The photos already uploaded best show the detail.I’ve always enjoyed the food and coffee with a range of products for everyone. I find the pricing very reasonable.The owner and staff are lovely. The Fairy Goth Mother always makes me smile. The staff have always been helpful with the health issues of mother-in-law.There are stairs inside to the top. Determine your own health before climbing.For those interested in the day of the dead and similar, there are yearly celebrations at the appropriate times. You’ll definitely appreciate the items and art on display. Very fitting for the environment. Celebrate those who have passed.Thank you. Absolutely amazing experience, store is welcoming and clean with a very authentic style to it, pleasing for children and adults. Variety of vegan, gluten free and other savoury and sweets, including an excellent pizzelli which was so good. Gifts, takeaway and fresh flowers are of high quality, just like the food, definently coming back when in town.
