Vinnies Kitchen

Vinnies Kitchen Rosebud is free to the public. It is a self funding Inc ran entirely by non paid community volunteers, some who have served there for over 20 years for a total of over 134,000 meals as of close of 2018. VKR is not attached directly to any other society or government form of backing, we are self funding with help from many external local groups,social, commercial and private. Gen U now do our cooking and we do the storage,defrosting reheating serving and cleaning up of between 18 and 60 meals per day mid week. The meals include two lunches per week; Wednesdays and Fridays and three evening meals Mondays, Tues and Thursdays. Open for service over 10 months of the year. There is always served up a minimum of: Soup, a baked vegetable dish, two meat based dishes sometimes three, as well as either potatoes, peas ,beans, carrots,mixed veg or rice to match in with the main meals. A cooked desert as well as tinned fruit and custard. Tea, coffee and chocolate are available with cakes as a starter when the doors are open after set up of the tables and chairs etc. There are on most service days and evenings free bread and other occasional non perishable foods all for the taking. We cannot hand out seconds until everyone has had a meal. Vegans /vegetarians can of course have vegetables and the deserts unless we know you are coming in advance and can then double up on our veg dishes that evening for you.
