Botany Green

My partner and I chose Botany Green to do the flowers for our wedding based on recommendations from other professionals in the wedding industry. We were initially excited to go through Ben as a queer friendly and queer owned and operated business.Meeting Ben was a lot of fun, we went through our plans for the wedding, colour pallets and the sort of flowers we wanted to use.We requested natives to be the center piece of all our floral arrangements, and Ben quickly advised us that they would be out of season, difficult to source and expensive.Throughout the consult Ben suggested adding colours and flowers that were not a part of our colour pallet nor were they natives.After the consult, Ben sent us our quote via email. It was the wrong quote. It was addressed to other people, the colour scheme was wrong, incorrect arrangements were listed and it was a couple of hundred dollars over our agreed upon budget.We emailed Ben back and advised him of the mistake, finally we got our quote with the correct colour pallet, however it was still very much over priced.In order to fit our budget, we emailed Ben and asked him if we could remove a couple of bouquets, and asked him to confirm where our costings were going.After that, Ben pulled the pin, 6 weeks out from our wedding.Ben stated that ‘our values don’t align’, also that we weren’t ‘allowing him to his skills that [he] has worked on for years’ and that we turned him into ‘the hands of the job’.We weren’t hiring Ben/Botany Green to design our flowers and put his spin on things. This was our wedding, not his, and we were employing him to put our dreams into reality, but apparently this was too much to ask.When we went to a different florist, who advised that natives were very much in season, easy to source, and that she would be able to fit everything we wanted well within our requested budget. She was able to source every single native we asked for, she came well under our budget and was an absolute delight to work with.We would not recommend Ben or his business to anyone. He was unprofessional, egotistical, difficult to work with and didn’t seem to know what he was talking about. For a florist to tell us flowers are out of season and difficult to source when it fact it was the opposite, makes me feel grateful that we didn’t put our trust in him to use the ‘skills he has worked for years on’.

I've had the pleasure of working with Ben professionally as a photographer and now for my own event. I'm blown away at the amount of added detail and extra love & care he puts into. I think the photos speak for themselves of the incredible creative talent Ben has. I highly recommending him to anyone else considering a florist for their next event. Brilliant service in tending to my garden, such creative and fabulous planting ideas. Their honey, strawberry jam, pickled beetroot and eggs are divine, as are their floral displays. They are delightful people to do business with.

We were lucky enough to have Ben do our wedding flowers and they were just the most incredible flowers!We really only gave Ben a few things that we wanted and told him to go for it! He worked with us to find a good budget, helped us figure out exactly what we wanted for our wedding (instead of what others may have wanted) and brought a beautiful and vibrant style to the day!If you’re wanting insane creativity, so much fun and something a little different, we would 100% recommend Ben! He’s the best!
