Probably one of Canberra's best kept secrets, Strathnairn has a small art gallery, cafe, collection of art studios, and garden/grounds that you can wander around.As a destination, it's not the refined experience you might expect from a typical tourist attraction, but this is perhaps part of its charm. The grounds aren't really kept up as a garden per se, but are still quite nice to wander around in when the weather is good. For bird lovers, there always seem to be plenty of superb fairy wrens and other small flighty creatures.If you're lucky, you might even get to pet a horse.The gallery always has something interesting to look at (and buy, if you like).The cafe has seating inside the gallery (which is in a quaint old house), and also outside in the garden. They make decent coffee and cakes, but I haven't tried the food. Be warned, service can be quite slow, even if you only ordered coffee and cake.All in all, Strathnairn is absolutely worth a visit on a lazy sunny day. Bring a book and settle in for a while.

Great place to be for relax outing. Fabulous cafe nice choices on the menu and specials. Lots of vegetarian options, nice coffee, homemade cakes just excellent.We went with our children's and they we're enjoyed outdoor open space.Beautiful art work in the gallery and nice walk around the property.Strongly suggested. Will be back.

After a 2 hour walk at Shepard's Lookout i had a lovely curry pie and salad, it was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back next weekend.

Love the cafe at this place. It's staffed by refugees who are unerringly polite and helpful and the food is pretty good. And once you finish your coffee you can check out the original artworks for sale displayed on the cafe's walls. Another plus is that it's located in a lovely rural setting on the outskirts of Canberra with views over the Brindabellas.

It's a quaint little place that gives you a countryside feeling. They had live music, which made the breakfast against the backdrop of nature even more enjoyable!

On a Friday morning there was a nice vibe. Would like to see craft groups for kids and expanded menu at cafe. Could be a huge drawcard but needs development. Chickens a nice touch. Would love to visit again and see some more creative ideas.

Wonderful arts cafe just on edge of Canberra. Nice coffee and breakfast. Art works are well presented in well lighted Cafe.

Lovely place, with great cafe, sculptures and crafts, particularly silk woven scarves. An added bonus was the frog habitat, sounding loud and proud with deserving little amphibians.
