Monbulk College

Absolutely horrible high school that doesn’t support anyone that anyone that’s autistic! I graduated here in 2010 after being forced into VCAL and being told by numerous teachers I’d never amount to anything. Evwn was told by an integration aide that people with autism can’t be teachers! Even had the VCAL coordinator at the time try and get me to work at a shelted workshop for $2 an hour and didn’t assist me finding an apprenticeship. 12 years later I’ve got 2 bachelors, one in literature and another in education and I’ll be teaching myself next year! To all those staff that didn’t believe in me i proved you the F wrong!

It's not bad. The teachers are friendly, the students are toxic to one another until they're old enough to realise that being nice to one another make's life better, then they tend to become much more friendly. The school worries way too much about school uniform to the point where it's taking away people's individuality and at a time in people's lives when we're finding who we are there is nothing more important than a sense of individuality, and they keep coming up with excuses for why we should wear school uniform like how it's preparing us for the future when we'll be wearing uniform to work" I've heard that dozens of times and I just keep think that if that's true then people at schools where they don't have uniform must leave school and be absolutely bamboozled by the fact that they have to wear a uniform when they get a job some where as if wearing a certain colour shirt for a justified reason like how people need to know if you actually work there or not is hard. Music and drama programs are ok but they're waisted on students who don't really care for music and drama. The art programs are great and they give students lots of freedom to do what they want in years 11-12 as long as they're doing something. I think this is probably consistent with all schools but sometimes I find myself feeling trapped in a world of assignments and exams when I just want to live my life how I want to and not be held back by that psycology test I need to study for

I went to Monbulk in year 7 and 8 I’m now in year 9 going year 10 at a different school. The education and some of the teachers at this school are kind and teach well there was a few teachers that were just hard for me to get along with, majority of the students at this school were not nice to people who disagreed with their views and excluded and bullied students who were different from them, punishments for bullying weren’t satisfactory and bullying still continued, I think Monbulk secondary school should focus on the well-being and fair punishment of their students that bully and discriminate, other then their uniform all the time. It’s a good school for education I just didn’t get on well with some teachers and students.

Teachers don't care about people with disabilities

My kids are doing very well here. Couldn't recommend it highly enough

meh teachers have favourites and loads of the times they favour girls over boys

I have just moved from a school where I was just waiting to be brought home in a body bag, and with no education. then i moved to Monbulk College a school where I'm accepted by nearly everyone (we don't have to like everyone, just need to be civil) I love it here, I would recommend it to anyone.
