I don't know if this guy's a scammer or a flake. From the first time I spoke to Geoff, I was clear that I was after reupholstery AND restaining of my armchair, and I mentioned the restaining multiple times during our discussions.We got as far as purchasing the fabric and then I didn't hear from him again. I followed up from time to time and then eventually, one day he happened to be in the area and offered to pick up my chair. I mentioned for the fourth time about the staining, and he looked surprised and said 'Oh, I outsource that, it's extra'. About a week later he sent me details for a person to do the staining. That person never responded to my email. At this point I decided not to proceed. I'd wanted a one stop shop and was told he could do that, now it was going to be a lot more hassle and more expensive than I'd been told by Geoff.I was happy to pay for the fabric purchased, but expected the rest of my 50% deposit back. He tried to say that him getting the fabric and picking up the chair warranted him keeping the lot - $375. I demanded a full refund minus the cost of the fabric for which I wanted to see the invoice. Initially he said he did not need to provide the invoice, but then he changed his mind and gave me a partial refund. He held back about $90. I didn't think the little he had done was worth $90 but I let it go. By then I'd already wasted about 6 months with this guy.The odd thing was, twice he encouraged me to make a complaint to the ACCC and/or post a negative review on here - weird.Don't waste your time.

Geoff was really helpful throughout the restoration/transformation process. We had two big cane chairs brought back to life, with new cushions beautifully made. Everything happened with no fuss, and we couldn't be happier with Geoff's excellent workmanship; he obviously cares.It feels good to have given new life to old, comfy chairs. Thanks, Geoff!

Very happy that Geoffrey was super patient with restoring family piece of furniture. To be honest we worried due to that the completion would not happen. Although the result was far beyond what we expected.Thus the 4 star rating.

I recently purchased a desk for my home office after a long search. To say that I'm particular is probably light on, so you can imagine my horror when the desk arrived with a whole corner smashed in from the shipping journey. Rather than risk it going back on the same journey, I looked to engage the services of a local business man and wood repair specialist. Sims Furniture Restorations & Upholstery was up for the job and even down played the restorative outcome that he would produce. The desk returned today (hand delivered and early mind you) looking like it should have on arrival - perfect. To top it off the cost was far less than I expected. My hope is that those in need of some much needed care for their beloved furniture use this fantastic service. Whoever in the Sydney metro area doesn't... is a FOOL!!! 5 stars. HURRAH

Geoff's work is excellent. He is also extremely reliable and fair in his pricing. He did a great job with our chairs. Highly recommended!

I sent Geoff some photos of my broken chair and was emailed back a quote pretty quickly. No one wanted to take on my job, but Geoff did.I was pregnant and high risk at the time and Geoff was kind enough to pick it up, and he even delivered it when it was all ready.Price was reasonable and we have a full set of chairs now. I should have emailed Geoff sooner.
