Our stay at Rivergardens was so relaxing for us and we wished we could have stayed longer. The warm and friendly welcome by hosts John and Jennifer made us feel so comfortable. Our room was so fresh and modern with a comfy bed and fabulous ensuite.Everything you could think of was supplied. And nothing was too much trouble for John and Jennifer. We needed a shower chair...no problems, they had one on hand!Breakfast was beautifully served and so delicious.Rivergardens is such a peaceful place, we enjoyed sitting out on the verandah listening to all the wildlife and the goats calling their mummas.Everything is so new, clean and no detail is over looked. The DVD collection is rather impressive! We highly recommend Rivergardens for a quiet, private stay. We will definitely be returning. Thank you John and Jennifer so very much! - Carole and Darell

We have just had the most magnificent weekend staying at River Gardens Axedale. From the delicious afternoon teas and fabulous breakfasts to the gorgeous rose gardens and the amusing antics of the three pups who roam the grounds and their feline friend.Wendy was truly welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. Including the beautiful bunch of roses I received to go home with.We felt extremely welcome.

a very relaxing place to stay.Scrumptious breakfasts and friendly , helpful hosts. We both loved feeding the goats their milk and were even lucky enough to see a lamb born that morning.Peaceful and quiet but still less than 20 minutes to Bedigo if you feel the need.Next time I will bring my rod to fish on the Campaspe river running at the base of their hill. Thanks Jen and John

Had I arrived and received a clean room, fresh towels and generous hospitality, I would be awarding Mark and Wendy and 5 star review, however I did not… in view of the exceptional experience they afforded me, I am awarding them 7! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Beyond what I might have expected, Wendy and Mark demonstrated the very essence of ‘old world’ country hospitality; such a refreshing experience in todays ‘ cut and run ‘ society. I wholly endorse River Gardens Axedale, as a venue to include on your list of weekend getaways for an entirely bespoke holiday.

We had a fabulous weekend retreat, far enough away to be private but close enough to still visit shops if needed. The Abbott family were absolutely beautiful & took wonderful care of us, the river was on the doorstep for fishing & swimming & the gardens were the perfect place to get lost in with our cheese & bickie platter. There was wildlife abound along with some very friendly farm animals, an amazing house totally off the grid with all the comforts of home - I would recommend River Gardens to anyone.

Really friendly hosts. New Bed and Breakfast. Great food and lots of nice little extras. Only 15 min from both Heathcote and Bendigo. Close to the outstanding O'Keeffe Rail Trail so recommended for cyclists. Situated on the river so an interesting farm to walk around. Very good value.

My wife Sandie n I spent the weekend visiting wineries around Heathcote. We needed accommodation in the local area. Right from the first contact we thought we had found a home away from home. Great location, a lovely room, well appointed, very clean. As I’m my business is in windows all the windows and doors were double glazed.Cold nights very cosy inside. We walked around the property and discovered many of the goats on the property had just had kids. Very friendly creatures that loved the attention. Breakfast on the Sunday was on time and beautiful cooked and great presentation. 10/10plus. We will be back.

David and I enjoyed our two night stay here. Comfortable and cosy accommodation, perfect for a peaceful get-away break from Melbourne. Jen cooked a great breakfast each morning, we enjoyed our walks around the property and along the river. We look forward to returning soon.
