Fantastic martial arts club, highley recommended...I have been a member of the club for three years after moving up from Victoria where I was a student of the Ninjutsu style for over 6 years. Hito No Kage Ryu showed great mastery and continuity of the style which allowed me to return to training straight away almost exactly where I had left off. The instructors were very supportive and encouraging as they helped me get back into training after a significant brake.Today my two boys and I continue to train with the club. The Hito No Kage Ryu instructors are very friendly and create a positive learning environment whilst fostering and building skill, discipline, flexibility and overall fitness. The classes are suitable for adults and kids alike. The style encompasses many elements of traditional Japanese fighting arts but with a focus on clandestine strategies and tactics utilised by the Ninja warriors. The style and its various techniques are very intuitive to take on at a beginner level and develops at a fast pace as skill and experience grows. Training starts with basic stances and hand to hand combat techniques such as kicks and hand strikes and builds into advanced concepts such as limb locks, take-downs, throws and grappling. The club also teaches various traditional Japanese weapons such as sword and staff to name just a few.The club has a strong focus on self-defence by teaching various hard and soft empty hand skills and techniques whiles building confidence in the students own abilities. Student are regularly encouraged to undertake sparing within a controlled environment to enable them to test and consolidate techniques as well as learn control within a more realistic combat situation.Hito No Kage Ryu has a well-developed syllabus which acts as a framework for student progression and grading. Each grading is a formal evaluation with an instructor where the mastery of required skills and techniques must be demonstrated. The grading and subsequent award of a new rank and belt colour is a well-earned and a celebrated achievement within the club.As a current student of the club and a parent kids who also train at the school I can’t recommend the club highly enough. My boys always look forward to training and are motivated to practice their techniques during the week outside of class. Very friendly and professional. Teaches modern day self defence for anyone no matter gender, size, age or experience. Have lots of fun while learning how to defend yourself while improving your fitness at your own pace. I enjoy these classes every week.

The leaders are good people with a lot of experience in self defence, they are serious about their self defence but manage to to make it fun for younger children to learn modern defences against modern problems. Highly recommend this group to at least visit and see what they are about.
