I am concerned the Motor Accident Injuries Bill which was passed by the NSW Parliament on 30 March 2017, has systematically made it very difficult for injured people to receive the care they need to recover after a motor vehicle accident in New South Wales. The new system has made people like my injured father (Ferat Aktop) out of pocket as he continues to pay his expenses without the necessary payments needed to cover his deficits. This system has caused great distress to both him and our family. When you look at the laws and the way pre-injury average weekly payments are calculated for self employed individuals, you begin to see the strong bias the laws have toward insurance companies. The PIC is nothing but a mouthpiece for companies like Allianz in this current scheme. I have already relayed my concerns to my Local Member of Parliament in the hopes that this matter is addressed at a State level. How does the PIC claim to be independent in such a system?
