Sushi raft
Sushi raft is an ok sushi restaurant by Australian standards. I came for lunch on Saturday. The prices are ok ($3.90 for most plates and not $3.50 a plate mentioned in a review a year ago) and I enjoyed eating the items I ordered. The sushi train was not running. Fresh tuna was on the menu but none was in stock when I visited (lots of tinned tuna which isn't really proper sushi at all). I had to ask twice for tap water but the single waitress was run off her feet. There is no screen or app to send orders. If I lived in the local area, I probably would return as there probably aren't many better options nearby. If you want a better sushi experience in Cairns for a similar price, I would recommend North Cairns Sushi Train instead.

My son has a number of food allergies (not seafood) and the staff were very accomodating to his requirements. The dishes we ordered tasted great! If your in the Trinity beach area and looking for great sushi and service, go to Sushi Raft.

I liked it. The staff were very personable and didnt hover! The food tasted really good and the sashimi was alright too! The only thing was they didnt have a huge selection on the train.

Love this place for lunch on the run. So convenient. Staff are lovely and the food quality is consistent. No matter how packed it is, they never have you waiting too long. I'm so pleased to have a local sushi joint like this one.

Sushi raft
Well priced, fresh food, quick to order - maybe 8 minutes for the big feast we had - and friendly service. Between two people for $40 we had pork gyoza, chicken teriyaki rolls, tuna rolls, croquettes, gyoza, aburi marbled beef, salmon, cream cheese and avocado rolls and a karaage chicken donburi. At $20 a head, we couldn't fault it. Outstanding, keep up the good work guys.

Fantastic food and service. Good range of sushi on the train itself but there is a large menu that you can order anytime from, all $3.50 a plate. The marbled beef sushi was awesome.

This was OK, but not great. The restaurant design doesn't lend itself to great ambience with a service / preparation area in the middle of the room and customer tables on either side. Some dishes were good but others were not. I had tuna sashimi which I didn't enjoy and tekkamaki which I did. My lunch partners had a bento box and spicy chicken rice bowl which they generally enjoyed. We each had green tea which consisted of a tea bag in a cup of hot water -- somewhat disappointing. In the bento box the feedback on the gyoza was not great. Other parts of it were rated well.We saw the service staff putting dumplings from a packet in the steamer for consumption later in the service day. I can buy something similar in Woolies or Coles, so this is not something I'd expect from a restaurant.Summary -- the place was OK but could have been better. I want to give a 3½ star rating but I can't do that so I lean to 3 stars not 4.An afterthought. The sushi train wasn't operating (May 2023). The reason may be changes post-COVID or maybe it just wasn't operating on a weekday lunch time. That makes no difference to me but thought I'd mention it.
