Jim was recommended by a number of people. He goes above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. He was on time, and available for questioning. He supplied the gear and made up 'boards'. With my electrical background I did the grunt work of removing the old systems and running new cables. He hooked it up with full explanations. Couldn't be happier!

A real shame. Their pricing was very competitive on the Victron gear we purchased from them. Recommendations were thin on the ground when we asked what else would we need".... but that is ok. Responses from Jim range from mediocre to really slack. I contacted Jim to ask for help (Paid) to book in our Motorhome to have him help us tweak what an electrician in Cairns (where I live) had installed of his provided equipment... as we are travelling

I have used Odyssey Marine Electrical several times since August 2020 to do a major refit on my Grady White 360 Express. Jim and his team have reworked, rewired, installed, or upgraded virtually ever electrical system on the boat. No job was either too large or too small. From a lithium battery upgrade to a new security/system monitoring system, pump and lighting installations, fuse panel and AC/DC panel simplification, shore power connections, and many other items, all of the work was done professionally, timely, and cost effectively. His team has allowed me to work in with them to learn more about my boat and to be able to do repairs/troubleshoot myself when cruising and away from support. They have also built in user friendliness for self repairs when installing new or upgrading equipment. Bottom line: If you want the “A” team go with Odyssey Marine Electrical.

If I could give minus stars I would. Jim Gray and his team were hired to remove and replace a stern thruster in my Riv and were unable to as he had purchased the incorrect thruster for the job. Once Jim was not able to remove the old one or install the new (incorrect) one, He left the replacement on board for someone else to remove and replace. We had another professional remove the old one and upon attempting to install the new one, realise the thruster was incorrect. I contacted Jim immediately and sent the item back to him, which has been delivered. I then naturally requested a refund of our $5000.00 which we paid in full prior to any work being carried out. Jim is now with holding $1000.00 as he says this is for lost labour.......to do what exactly....I'm not sure as I am the one who had to pay someone else to try and do the job he was hired to do.

Jim and his team at Odyssey are in a class of their own. With a wealth of knowledge and experience they provide; exceptional service, creative solutions, value for money and on time. I know I can always depend on Jim and his team to solve my electrical and electronic issues. If you are interested read on for some of my experiences. I was frustrated by the poor performance of the original solar system fitted to my boat, Destiny, a Seawind 1160. What was equally frustrating was trying to find someone who was able to confidently assess the boats requirement and proposes a solution. At the time, there was a Lagoon 41 on the same marina arm I was located. I could not miss the stunning stainless steel work and solar panel installation which I knew had been added to the vessel. I asked the owners who had done the work. This is how I discovered Jim Grey and Odyssey Marine Electrical. A referral from another raving fan client who could not speak more highly about the Solar Panel installation Jim had organised for their Lagoon Catamaran.Jim was a breath of fresh air and from our first conversation I was confident that he not only knew what he was talking about but would be able to provide the best solution for my power issues. Jim organise everything including the stainless steel framing through another outstanding contractor Tony from Marine Stainless & Alloy Solutions. Jim’s installation was a total game changer for me as I no longer required connection to shore power. The 1000 watt system not only looks great but will also provide in excess of all the power I require to run two fridges, two freezers and all other electrical demands. I have not seen the house batteries below 75% even after several overcast days and 8 months without connection to shore power. While working on the solar installation I mentioned to Jim the deck lighting was very poor. He said he had a solution and he did, the foredeck on Destiny is like full day light on the darkest nights when required with a flick of a switch. He also noticed a number of other electrical issues which he brought to my attention and rectified.Jim has also came to my rescue on other occasions, when the electronic failed and I was on a tight schedule to leave port to sail north he was able to work his magic with what he could source to provide a solution for me to leave on time.I could not recommend Jim and Odyssey Marine Electrics more highly.

Very unprofessional team, no repsonsbility at all.I spoke with Jim about two months ago, regarding to fix some electrical problem of my boat, he had a short inspection, about 20mins, charged me $120, he told me he will fix all problem it in 7 days, before next friday. and at the time i knew we are neighbours, he just lives about 100 or 200m away from my home. I was very happy with that coz it is very hard to get a marine electrician close to u.after a week, i give him a call ask the next appointment time, he said he ordered a new shore power for me, but not received yet. I said thats fine, i just wait.then after another week, i call him again, same responds, orders not come yet, but will come tomorrow.unfortunately, nothing happened tomorrow.I thought maybe still delayed, i just keep waiting.then after two weeks, still nothing happens, i tried to contact with Jim, but he starts to reject my call, and no reply of messages neither. I tried to contact him many time but all failed. he didn't reply at all.At first i was worried about him, hopefully everything is going fine. until one day, i saw he driving his car on street, yes he is very well, just stood me up many times.i been friendly and polite all times, don't understand why Odyssey Marine treats there customer like that, maybe my job is two small for him.(about $3000-4000). if u cant make it, or u don't want to continues, that's ok.At least u should tell me, i need to know, not just keep waiting and waiting.so sad about this case.
