The Margate Train
Ever wanted to visit an old train stop that is stuck in time? Well book a ticket to Tassie and stop at the Margate Train. The station building and the train are all a nod to the oldern times and preservation of something awesome. Being inside the carriages always brings back memories of the tiny London tube trains. There are a number of interesting shops and a pancake restaurant to check out! Definitely worth the stop.

Love visiting here. Various carriage shops to choose from (I especially love the lollie shop) and a great cafe to stop and recharge. Take a walk through the second-hand store while you're there, and snap up a bargain, too.

A great place to take the kids (ours are grown and weren't with us).Cool set up with different carriages having different things (e.g pancakes, lollies, etc). The train doesn't go anywhere, so you can sit and enjoy your food/the experience.

AWESOME food with gluten free options! Something fun and different for us and our kids. We were a group of 19 and did book ahead, but the manager Ben was so relaxed about it all and happy to accommodate us, even checking on us himself afterwards. Only slight criticism would be the ordering system, whereby we had to order table by table despite the fact we all had kids sitting together at other tables. I understand it might be easier for the kitchen, but it was confusing for some of us and caused a couple of minor issues. Would otherwise highly recommend, and would definitely make a return visit if we were ever coming back this way again.

The Margate Train
Delightful tourist type attraction (which has been on location for over 20 years). This train is insitu (doesn't move) & hosts things like a South African carriage (biltong, braii etc), fairy carriage, gift shop carriage & a pancake carriage. Plenty of parking, small playground & toilets. The site also hosts a fabulous second hand and antique dealership

We stopped in for a visit on our drive into Hobart. Really cool wandering through the different carts and checking out the different businesses. We stopped at the pancake carriage just after 10 on a Sunday and unfortunately all inside tables were taken but there was plenty of room outside so we just sat out. Recommend booking a table if you want one inside. We ordered Canadian breakfast with coffee. Good toilet facilities with baby change table. Small train themed playground for small kids. Well worth a visit.

Love the pancake here. One for two person around $24. We had one pancake with full of cherries and one chai latte. They usually have special dishes as well. We went there on Saturday and full of tables. Pretty busy place and great atmosphere for Saturday avo!

Would be better if more shops were open. We looked online and the margate train said open. We didn’t realise the individual vendors would be different. Lucky the pancake restaurant was open or we would have been disappointed to have visited. Pancakes were great though!

The Margate Train
Magnificent use of locomotive history and rail cars in a commercial tourist context which was interesting and worthy of the time we spent in the Margate Train precinct. A fun place to visit and fabulous second hand shed packed with a collection of eclectic goods.
