The doctors are good but the receptionists are shockingly bad! No knowledge, they seem to not pass on information between each other, don't do the things they say they are and never ring back if they say they would and if you ask for names (so you can backtrack who you spoke to) they heng up on you. Very unprofessional!Plus you always have to wait for ages even if you got an appointment.Unfortunately we don't have many other options in Moranbah...

We have been coming to Oaktree Family Medical since 2017/2018 from Dysart. Staff are always friendly and very accommodating. The GP's actually care about your health rather than write you a script and send you out the door. Dr Mags and her team do an amazing job.

Worst experience ever.Im 6 months pregnant, and was informed by Moranbah Hospital that I would need a doctors referral before I can meet with the local midwife.At Oaktree Family Medical a female doctor spent more than 15 mins questioning my need for a referral, as she was under the impression that I would not need one to see the midwife. After telling her that the hospital informed me otherwise, she blatantly disagreed with me and our conversation went around in circles until she finally called the hospital to clarify.The hospital staff member told the doctor that I do in fact need a referral however the local midwife was currently on leave.Once the doctor ended the call she relayed the information about midwife being on leave, however made no mention or apology for the fact that she was wrong and rude to me about the referral.My toddler with me is starting to get very cranky at this point as this meeting has already taken way longer than needed.I answered all the questions the doctor asked me, such as what I wanted for my birth, if I knew the gender of my baby ect... then I was informed that I’d have to stay in Mackay from 38 weeks until I give birth and that I don’t have the option of a home birth in Moranbah. Which was disappointing, but I was already aware that this might be the case in a small town - so instead asked for referral to see a midwife in Mackay or elsewhere to discuss further what options are available to me.The doctor was noticeably offended that I still wanted to see a midwife even after discussing my birth options with her. She became very unprofessional and rude and said abruptly “how am I supposed to write you a midwife referral if I don’t know any of your medical history! How was your first!?” (she pointed at my 2yr old next to me)Shocked by this broad and rudely toned question all I could think to say was: “fine”.Not once did I decline to answer any questions, but was still treated in this horrible manner from the very start of the meeting.If I had been asked a more specific question like where I birthed my first, if I had any complications with her birth, what medical problems i may have - I would have been in a position to give her a more specific answer.After my short reply to her broad question, the doctor got up and stormed out of the room in a huff leaving myself and my toddler there for 10 mins not knowing what was going on.Finally, the private owner came in who was quick to point out that I'm only a patient and NOT a customer making it quite clear that patients aren't valued.After pointing out to her that her 'patients' are in fact paying customers and that I've received absolutely no help, she let me leave without paying thank goodness.Oaktree Family Medical claim to be in contact with the local midwife daily - however my interaction with them proved this to either be a blatant lie or a case of terrible communication between the two. Not once did I ask or expect them to ‘adjust the realities of living in a small town’ and not once did I decline to answer any questions I was asked. Though this seems to be what the doctor has told the owner by the looks of the response to this review.Never have I ever been treated so disrespectfully or had an issue like this before, however from the looks of Oaktrees past reviews - this isn’t the first time they’ve treated patients in this manner.Now that I've read their past reviews about their doctors being condescending (and the owners response is to justify this with the fact that the patient was only $40 out of pocket for their horrible visit), the inconsideration they have for their patients time and even a case of one doctor not being hygeinic with a newborn (in the middle of a pandemic none the less), I'm very disappointed I naively booked there in the first place.

Highly recommend Oaktree Family Medical. The reception greet you with a smile and understanding. I just had my 6 month old baby get his needles and Nurse Tracy makes you feel comfortable and helps you through calming your poor lil bubba. I would love to just recommend one of the doctors that is provided for my family to see but all of the Doctors are professional and well trained. The Oaktree always makes you feel part of their family

Had a great experience here, loved seeing doctor marg. You might have a wait before seeing her but i would hours to see her because she is definitly worth the wait and when you see her your appointments dont feel rushed, its feel like you have all the time to get through your concerns and shes very thorough! Would definitly would come back to see her and see the friendly staff
