This would have to have been one of my favourite local getaways. A truly remarkable and unforgettable experience. The service. The attention to detail. The dining. The setting. We can’t wait to come back again! Perfect getaway!

Capella Lodge is simply amazing. The view is amazing. The staff are amazing. The food and wine is amazing. The rooms are amazing. Plus it is only small so it isn’t busy.They serve cocktails before dinner. Usually there is a cocktail of the day and generally a spirit of the day. There are two menus. A more traditional one or something a bit more exotic. We always chose from the more exotic menu and it was good every time.It’s very close to the golf course and the beginning of some of the major walks. We snorkelled a few times off the beach which is just down the road from the lodge. Really incredible little reef. Masses of fish including a couple of really big rays.It is the other end from the hub of Lord Howe but then it is only a cycle or a car trip to the hub. We chose to cycle to try and get fit. Plus there are lots of kingfishers on the fence at the airport so if you cycle into the hub you’re bound to see some kingfishers.A really incredible destination. Highly recommend it.

Every bit 5 stars. The location is beautiful and nicely separated from the main area of Lord Howe Island, but still only 10mins on the bike into town.Service and staff were amazing, helping plan a day, recommend best spots, giving you a laugh - everything. In particular, they catered above and beyond for our dietary needs and were proactive with it on menus.There is no better holiday spot and experience in Australia.

A wonderful location, truly amazingly friendly and helpful staff and management with excellent accomodation and outstanding service from room to restaurant. Incidentally, the food and wine are fabulous! (just don't mention our new waistlines!) The view of the mountains and lagoon from this little hilltop are truly memorable and access to walking trails and beach lookouts are excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this lodge for its simple elegance, unhurried sense of place and space, and for its comfort and low key sociability. We will be back - we just have to snorkel the Maldives next!

Worth every penny! We splurged on a weekend in Lord Howe Island for our 15th wedding anniversary. Located an hour and a half flight east of Sydney, it is just 10km long, 2-3km wide, and completely unspoiled beauty. There are a few roads, and a few cars, but most of the “traffic” is on foot or bicycle. We went on several hikes (and rarely saw even one other person), fed the fish at Ned’s beach, and enjoyed the lack of mobile phone signal! Truly a dream destination. Our two story lagoon loft at the Capella Lodge had a postcard-perfect view, the food was out-of-this-world yummy, and they even let us borrow the golf cart to explore the island on our own. Only regret? only one, and it that we didn't get here sooner.

It is an experience that was amazing from start to finish. The staff are exceptional and go the extra mile for their guests. The accommodation is second to none on the island with sweeping ocean and mountain views.
