Cape Otway Cottages - Great Ocean Road Accommodation

Beautiful place. We had a wonderful time. Sharon was very kind and helpful. Highly recommended. The views - wow!

We enjoyed our three night long weekend getaway at Moonrise Cottage with our dog Tillie.Access is easy , up an unsealed track, to a lovely secluded cottage.Sharon gave us excellent service from when we booked, to when we arrived.... key in door , heater on, fire set , ready to light.However this cute little cottage is in need of some TLC and a good clean by its owners and desperately needs some updating to bring it up to what people expect these days as well as up to current safety standards.The Nectre woodfire needs maintenance, with the fire door not closing properly and the cord around the glass needing replacement, we had a woodfire for years and know that simple routine maintenance makes them function efficiently and be safe to use. A down light was hanging by a cord over the kitchen area also and all I could think of was , hope this doesn’t cause a fire. One PowerPoint in the bathroom had black tape over it , indicating that it wasn’t to be used.A resident rat , whom we saw saunter upside down along the veranda , then down a pole to the bird feeder may have taken up residence in between the spa bath and outer wooden lining boards. There was certainly a commotion going on during the wee small hours of the morning that kept us awake and our dog on full alert.There was no signs of mice or mr rat inside by the way , but perhaps this needs to be checked out so the rat or whatever it is does not chew the workings of the spa pump.We totally understand that rats, mice , possums etc are all part of living in the country, we lived in the country for 20 years and loved it.The kitchen was fully equipped, although it was very old and could do with a face lift ( cupboard doors and interiors) but there was everything you needed, from utensils, pots, pans glasses to glad wrap, foil and baking paper. The Oven needed a good clean inside however.The continental breakfast was a lovely surprise too and there was plenty of wood available to use in the woodfire.With a bit of TLC Moonrise Cottage could again become the gem she once was.Not sure I’d recommend it though until the electrical things and the fire door are fixed.

A stunning retreat. Beautiful surrounds and great open fires in the cottages. Lots of Koalas surround most of the area. Highly recommended!

I stayed at Cape Otway Cottages Moonrise Spa Cottage for 3 nights. It was a fantastic place to get away. Me and my partner brought our two dogs with us and they had a ball exploring and running around the outdoor area of the cottage. As Moonrise is quite secluded, we weren't worried about letting the dogs off. There was also a gated deck which we were able to secure them inThe cottage itself was cosy and the fireplace was amazing - we loved having it on throughout the night. I would definitely recommend a getaway to cape otway cottages if you like nature and going for nice long drives along the Great Ocean Road.

We had a lovely getaway at the cottage ... enjoyed the simplicity and comfort. Everything you need including birds, koalas, echidnas and bream! Great little spot to relax !

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at the Dunes Homestead. Highlights included the fully equipped kitchen, fireplace and beautiful views. Our host, Sharon, was very responsive and friendly.Our only suggestions are hooks or a rack for drying towels in the bathrooms. Otherwise we wanted for nothing!

We arrived at Stone Cottage around 3pm, and we absolutely loved this place. It's located in the hill, with many equipments to use. This first day sunset was amazing even it was raining. My husband and I took some wedding pictures and we cherish that moment so much. It was cold at night, but the fireplace can definitely warm you up. At night time, the stars are beautiful, I took those two pictures just to show you how this unbelievably beautiful. Place without the light pollution. We spotted wallabies and laughing kookaburra and different kinds of birds around the house.

The worst place i have ever been to and the most unprofessional owners. They advertised BBQ, cfable TV and both were not working. Blinds missing off windows in bathrook and spa room. I am a female on my own, which they knew, i called the mobile for assistance on arrival and they don't even bother to return the call. I booked and prepaid 8 days and left in 24 hours. Would not recommend this to anyone.

We tried to book a 2 night stay at the cottages but Sharon, the manager was beyond rude and unpleasant. She said that she wanted the day off and couldn’t be bothered when we called to book. When we called a couple days later her unpleasant mood was unchanged. She hung up when it was suggested that her tone was off putting. We found a great place that allows dogs that ended up being closer to the beach and newer. So it actually ended up working out better. Hopefully the cottages hire someone to help her because she seems very unhappy.

We - Me, my wife, and our best mate Goose - have stayed at the GrassTrees cottage here three times now, and it's fast becoming our default getaway option. Life's so simple and carefree down there. The cottage is well appointed and super cozy with the fire and the spa. The setting in the forest is secluded and idyllic, with birds, kangaroos and koalas all around. It's a great place to escape to all year round. We'll be booking again soon.
