Do not recommend poor job quality and over charged me

We had a diesel heater fitted to our caravan and was advised that the cost could be aprox $500.00 or more if any problems, this was relayed to us by our friend Carl who made the initial enquiries, Darren wanted the van in advance to check it out, which we left with him the week before it was to be fitted. We were advised we had a problem with our tyres, Darren removed the wheels and we picked up from him, sourced out new tyres and returned the new fitted tyres to rims back to Darren. Fully expecting additional cost for removing wheels, re fitting and work on wheel bearings. We were charged $1450.00 for 15.5 hrs work, at no time were we contacted to say that due to a particular reason our aprox quote would be almost triple. If it had of been even $300.00 more than quote we would have accepted that, but almost triple deserves a phone call to advise what has increased the quote. We have no problem with the workmanship. I had spoken to Darren and messaged him a few times over the time he had our van, so there were many opportunities to update the quote and see if we still wanted to proceed. To say the bill was a shock is an understatement! Wont be a returning customer!

We are currently travelling around Australia in a converted bus. Over the last year we have had a number of major and minor mechanical issues including engine overheating and gearbox issues. We have had dealings with at least six mechanical businesses none of which took a holistic approach to our vehicle (ie fixed the immediate problem but didn't bother giving the bus a once over to make sure it was OK). We initially took the bus to Darren at First Class Motor Homes to have a hydraulic lift kit fitted, while it was there Darren identified a serious problem with the air brake system, caused by a previous mechanic not doing his job properly. Unfortunately the parts to rectify the situation were extremely difficult to identify and then to source. Other businesses would probably have just given up and handballed the problem back to us but Darren was determined to solve the issue for us. He was dogged in his pursuit of the parts and he and his team bent over backwards to make the necessary adjustments to get us up and running again safely. Darren's personal support during this very frustrating time was very much appreciated. We can not recommend Darren and all the team at First Class Motor Homes highly enough, not only for their skilled workmanship but for the way they deal with their clients and a determination to ensure their customers leave with a satisfactory result.

This post was only ever posted by Carl, Nat was in no way involved in this whole process, installation or otherwise so not real sure where darren the owner of first class motorhomes has gone with his response on my review...I was quoted initally 500.00 to install a diesel heater, was charged 16.5hours at 80.00 per hour to put this in and still wasnt working right even on pick up, then charged me 1545.00 for the total bill, not even a phonecall or a mention at any stage to advise of the severe increase in installation and no advice prior to commencing works on my van. Most of the melboure caravan places were charging 1000.00 for installation. I was absolutely rail roaded and so was my mate who brought his van here and he had the same experience, i will never go back or recommend him to anyone. I've had an incredible experience with Darren from First Class Motorhomes. He has gone above and beyond what I could ever expect or hope for and I am continually blown away by his professional and caring attitude. I've been through some difficulties, currently living in a women's refuge and he has been amazing helping me find a safe caravan home, as well as dealing with my old leaky one with realistic and reasonable quotes. I highly recommend taking your business for caravans, bus homes, motorhomes, campers etc to Darren and his team. He continues to work on the one he helped me find professionally and with respect, keeping me aware of what's required at every step of the way so there are no surprises.
