Hayville is a very friendly welcoming community set in beautiful gardens with wide streets. Great location, close proximity to shops, clubs with public transport on our door step. The community centre hosts many activities such as dinners/lunches, happy hour, tai chi, indoor bowls, bingo, to name just a few. Relocating to Hayville in 2019 was a good move.

We had been planning to find a good site in Blackburn and build two units on it, with one for us to live in, but decided look again at Retirement Villages, for added community and socialisation.  We looked at about six Retirement Villages that were all within 20 minutes’ drive from our son, and narrowed it down to Hayville in Box Hill South and Applewood in Doncaster – very different, but each with very good benefits.  The common feature of the two is that they have a large number of residents (about 130 and 400 respectively), so there is plenty of opportunity to socialise with others. Hayville was built with units well-spaced in beautifully maintained gardens. What it came down to, was when a suitable unit became available in the next year or so.  We wanted a villa unit of minimum 2 bedrooms and a study, with a sunny aspect to the living areas and main bedroom. As it happened, a very well sited, suitable unit came up at Hayville early in our timeframe.  Hayville leaves each resident to make their own arrangements with any retailer of their choice for electricity, gas, phone and internet.  They have a flexible approach to approvals for alterations eg adding solar panels to the roof of our unit, installing a panel heater in the bathroom, and a second split air-conditioner.  The Hayville costs are much less (compared with those at Applewood).

I found my haven here amongst the gardens at Hayville. And you can find yours here too-a place to do your own thing. Mine was writing, so I found time to write a book, then I joined with others who enjoyed the same thing I did. There are many advantages to living here. A great social life if that is your thing. Or a quiet place to follow your interests with many services available to us in the City of Whitehorse. Two excellent Libraries nearby or they will deliver books, films and magazines to your door. Heaven, for us bookworms. The Council is so caring that they even built a swimming pool and gym right across the road. Stroll through the Lynch Gateway and follow the path through the parklands to enjoy lunch or a quick coffee there. What more could we need.Vivienne Worthington

As a resident of Hayville Retirement Community I can tell people who are looking at villages that the residents here are all friendly with a relaxed attitude, different events are organised every week through the Social Committee so there is no need to feel lonely. The Village is an older style so therefore has beautiful gardens and plenty of space. Each Unit has their own back garden and garage, with 5 different styles of units.Hayville is positioned in Box Hill South Victoria and is walking distance to everything, one being that ‘Surrey Park’ opposite with beautiful park lands..Aqualink, which covers so many people’s needs and Surrey dive a tranquil lake to sit around ...(on Wednesdays and Sundays the Mini boat club sail their boats), plus picnic area and play equipment.Hayville has its own Mini bus, but just outside the door 3 bus services pass by. There are 2 tram services as well as Box Hill train station and shops are an easy walk, also Aldi is at the end of the next block.

Moved in nearly ten years ago and I'm still so happy with my decision. My needs for a new home were room for my dog, garden space, proximity to medical, social and exercise facilities. The community of people here are caring, friendly and many join our various social activities. The Tricare Management Team are wonderful with their interest and unfailing care for Residents. Our various concerns/needs are attended to in a timely manner without infringing our independent living space.

Regardless of individual interests and needs, Hayville Retirement Community has much to offer. I have lived here for over 17 years , and love the location , as it is close to shops, transport and medical services. It also offers activities and support services eg hairdressing ,on site maintenance staff and a community bus , for those who require it .It is a happy and friendly community , with an exceptional manager in Rosy , and I am very fortunate to call it my home.Posted by Bev Hocking via her daughter Sue

Hayville Retirement Community is a very special place to live. I have lived here for over 2 years and I have enjoyed every single day. All the residents are very friendly and we are all like one big happy family. Normally we have lots of different activities which you can join in if you wish. There is a Craft group that meets fortnightly, Bingo every week, games each week ,a writing group , exercises and tai chi , monthly dinners and many other activities. Everyone is young at heart and very welcoming. The units are very comfortable and the gardens are well tended and very attractive. I have no hesitation in recommending Hayville Retirement Community.
