DO NOT BE DETERRED if the restaurant is empty or by the modest decor. These folks are long-time exiles from Hong Kong and the food is extraordinarily good. Run by an older brother and sister team. It is definitely not your ordinary Asian cooking. Ask for guidance on food selection. If you're polite and respectful they will be very welcoming! Might I suggest you try the Silver Thread Loaf as an entree - as good as any street food in Singapore or Malaysia. Prices are so reasonable and quality is excellent. East Kitchen is just off the main strip and suffers because of its location. Eat there!

As a Chinese, I never truly appreciated Sweet and Sour Pork until I tasted it there tonight, this dish was made in authentic cantonese style and highly recommended by my foodie friend and his colleague, I loved it! What I also love the most is the freshness of the ingredients, which genuinely creates a homey dining experience.

This is an old cafe style restaurant that has delicious food.Very fresh and tasty.Don't be in a hurry though as it is run by a brother (chef) and sister (front of house) and they aren't young. We have been there 3 times in 2 weeks it's so good.

Incredible food worth the wait. We are Melbournians visiting Canberra and this was the honestly first place to demonstrate friendly customer service. Don't be put off by the wait as the quality and taste of their food totally makes up for it (prepared fresh). The food is akin to -if not better than- the likes of Olinda Tea House (Vic). Lovely elderly owners!

I think our table was fortunate we rocked up when it was quiet because there was minimal staff and they were trying their hardest to pump out the dine in orders and takeaway orders. We were highly intrigued by the silk thread bread, and apart from the spring rolls the food was delicious and very very fresh. They just needed more staff.

Don’t judge this book by its cover. It’s pretty unassuming but the food was fresh and amazingly tasty. The lady doing front of house was utterly lovely. If I weren’t just visiting Canberra, I’d make this a regular.

Delightful family run place with authentic Chinese food cooked fresh with still crispy veg. Service so friendly and attentive. Do not be put off by appearances of this understated little restaurant. Our meals were so delicious. The silken tofu was cooked beautifully and the sizzling chicken was the chefs recommendation and boy was it good!
