Altona Pines fish and chips
It was close to the beach so we had lunch here. Definitely do not recommend. It was expensive, which is fine. I understand that costs have gone up. Potato Cakes had a horrible flavour and same with the Dim Sims. The chips were the only thing we ate.

Food was great. Could not fault the fish - we had blue grenadier. Chips were excellent. There was a wait of course. It’s peak time of summer, but I didn’t think 35 minutes was extreme. Prices were good too, we pay the same up in central Victoria.

Disappointed with the quality, potato cake is dry, fish are dry the batter was hard, the calamari batter fell apart, almost like they were put in the microwave it was so soft not edible, everything was squished together packed ontop of each other, all i can taste is salt. Very disappointed, for such a perfect location they have ignored quality. Will not try again anytime soon. I hope management reads this and act on it.

Honestly I should of known from the burnt smell when walking in to avoid here. But I thought I’d still give it ago. Big mistake. Lumps and clumps of flour in the batter that wasn’t completely cooked. The chips were that oily and greasy And tasted as if they oil had never been changed. The Potato cakes had a slimy texture to them. Now looking back at it I was over charged by $1.70. If you’re after that classic fish and chips by the beach experience then getting it from here will leave a foul taste in your mouth.

Chips were good and had a large range in menu options - seafood, potatoes, falafel, hot dogs, desserts and more. I had fried banana (reminds me of Malay cuisine). No beer-batter to worry about. Super popular fish and chips shop, there was a little wait for the food. The workers were working really hard on such a hot day as well. We bought this (photos) and it was more than enough for a family (2 adults, 2 kids). I’ll be back with more friends and family. Good hot Food and filling.

Excellent fish and cheaps. Food tasted fresh. Worth the wait. Not much space to dine in, but plenty of park land next door and across the road. Free parking out front can be hard to find during peak hours. Worth a visit.

Fish was good, chips could be better quality. Asked for extra salt, they didn’t do it. Service took way too long (approx 30 min+). A really small sauce is $2. Price was medium-high for a fish and chips shop. Staff could be more presentable and the shop overall could be more hygienic. Not a dine-in obviously.

Chips were chunky and evenly cooked. We also ordered 2 blue grenadier fish fillets. The fillets were fresh, but the portions served were quite small and expensive.
