Nice walk, a few inclines make it relatively challenging if you want it to be. Not many people seem to visit this place which is good.

Underdeveloped spot of bush. No facilities at all. Multiple tracks through: main, flattest and best maintained being the Wright Road though the centre. About a 1. 3 km walk (2-3km return). Other tracks more taxing, often steep and rough. A smattering of birdlife, good range of native flowering plants. Access to the historic trestle bridge on the Puffing Billy line. Good for a quiet walk, dogs allowed - leashed (be prepared to take rubbish home with you).

Very pretty area to visit.Good mix of tracks to take you up and down throughout. The section at the top near the trestle bridge is so lovely, especially where it curves slightly to give you the view of the green fields nearby. Gorgeous.

loads of good tracks - well mapped in Google Maps and the fantastic AllTrails app.The main track from Cockatoo to Emerald (via the beautiful Emerald Lake area) is excellent all weather with good undulations (moderate workout) climbing out of the valley that is Cockatoo- what I like is the shade and coolness in summer and the all weather tracks in winter, shielded from any wind by the trees of wonderful bushland, and nicely manicured each side of most tracks.....With the variety of tracks we never get bored - always another way to go and enjoy scenery: new or different angles - and then, instead of say going through to Emerald and catching a bus back - one can get back to Cockatoo via a circle and have lunch at Brunch - (terrific food and coffee), revitalising....love such wonderful tracks and the lovely people you meet....and their dogs :-) . No horses or motorbikes...

Love this walk! There is a decent sized car park that could fit ~30 cars that is very easy to access straight from Bailey road. The forest has so many different paths that are all well maintained and are quite wide. As it is winter it is quite muddy in parts but doesn’t cover the entire path, I would recommend walking boots or at least very sturdy shoes with good grip as parts are a little steep (but overall quite flat). Dogs are welcome but there is a sign saying they should be kept on lead. There are plenty of loops you can do that are quite short or you can make your walk a lot longer also. At the opposite end of the forest to the car park, you can walk right up to Puffing Billy’s train line. I would recommend this forest for any family, couple or person who would like to get out and is only 5 mins drive from the Main Street of Cockatoo. There is no toilet here but again you would be a 5 minute drive away.

Dog city!!!! Blimpy loved the walk from Bailey to Wrights and back and made lots of friends along the way.Beautiful dry temperate forest with a mix of Hakea and Eucalypt. Some bird life but not much. Some litter spotted around some trees that looks almost deliberate. Like coloured wood doors that detracted from the scenery.Other than that it’s lovely.

Some lovely shaded tracks through unspoilt forest. We took the Wright Road track from the Puffing Billy railway crossing at Wright (at the junction of Bellbird Crescent and Wright Road) , towards Cockatoo, then followed the shared walking/bicycle track, along the Boundary track and crossing Cockatoo Creek before turning into Cockatoo. Drinks and light refreshments available in the Cockatoo RSL. On a Sunday at least, not much else open, although there is an IGA grocer. About 7 kms return. You can also wall from Emerald Lake Park, which would add probably 4 kms return.

It has changed a little bit due to the storm last June 2021 but it is still a good place to walk or run.
