With a toddler in tow, I knew the steep trails wouldn't be an option but there's an option to still visit the Amber's Gully Ruins as it is only a short walk from the carpark on Gorge Road in Athelstone.Pretty spot to see and loved learning about the history of the area on nearby linear track.

Views were beautiful as the climb is quite steep for a lot of the hike, but a pity I came on a cloudy/rainy day so it was all quite dreary.

Enjoy the undulating hills with native scenery of rugged ridges and a variety of native plants and animals along Black Hill Conservation Park's extensive network of walking trails. The park contains a wide variety of flora that offers a stunning display of native flowers in the spring including many delicate and colourful orchid species. While visiting the park, take a walk through the landscaped Wildflower Garden that dates back to the late 1940s.The park covers an area of 684 hectares and features the low sheoaks which give Black Hill its name. The foliage of the sheoaks gradually matures to a dark rusty, almost black colour, as summer progresses. As you look from the Adelaide Plains, the hills appear to be black in colour.

Amazing trails with great views and beautiful wildlife. Saw a koala and mobs of kangaroos! There are opportunities to volunteer with Friends of Blackhill to help remove the olive trees from infiltrating the ecosystem of native bush plants and trees in the area. The birds and other animals are reliant on the native trees for their habitat.

Stunning Australian Beauty. Rugged and untamed, yet found right beside a state capitol city - Adelaide. If hiking through here then take plenty of water, wear a hat and sunscreen. Can see a host of Australian animals here on a good day.

Nice trail for pets and humans both. I love sitting at a stop near the stream to read my book.

Driving past, I misread the Orchard track sign as Orchid.. It become obvious when we stopped and walked the Orchard track and Eagle track loop. It is quite steep at places but rewarding with stunning views. The orchids were near the top of the hill and there are echidnas near the eastern margin of the park.
