What a fantastic place for a single traveller $20 per night power, water, hot showers, amenities, camp kitchen and grounds are flat and very well known prior to arrival.

Great little campground, friendly staff and easy to deal with. Amenities could do with a freshen up but for $25.00 a night you can't expect big4. Happy to stay again.

Only giving one star because I can't do 0 for the camp ground. The Caretakers and Committee are incredibly rude and hard to deal with. The moment we pulled in, Donna ran out of the office and abused us for no reason. Then they went on to complain as it actually took us 2 days to move in as we had just bought the caravan after being homeless for 3 months. We had paid for the spot so have no idea why it was her business when we were there every day preparing it. They have this idea that they run the place so can be intrusive. We then needed 2 weeks more as we are between moving and no matter how much begging was instead met at the door of the office by a very hostile Donna who actually got right in my face screaming at me. I am a disabled woman and even after my mother rang from WA to beg for the weeks, she herself was able to hear the abuse this woman hurled at me.I would NOT suggest anyone stay there if you are looking for somewhere to stay without being abused, look elsewhere. Donna has a power trip where only people of her choice get to stay. Expect more bad reviews if she keeps this behaviour up.

Very handy near the Hunter, used the dump point for the Caravan. Easy access once you are through the gates.

Good spot for an overnight stay. Didn’t look great on first approach but turned out much better than expected. Amenities could definitely do with an upgrade and certainly a clean. Nice grassy sites and mostly pretty quiet. Check in also easy, important when arriving after hours.

We have stayed at Cessnock Showground in the past. John and his wife are amazing BUT, we turned up yesterday and were met by an arrogant person, who straight away said ‘how long you staying for’ my reply was why do you need to know. He then said that he was taking the money as John and his wife were unwell. Well I think if he had of greeted us with a better attitude and introduced himself, we might’ve got off on a better foot. We proceeded to find our spot and as he was coming back around, he then asked the same question and we said that we would probably be there for 3weeks, maybe a bit longer. He then aggressively said, well you won’t be cause the committee had voted and people were only allowed to stay for 2weeks and no longer. When my husband questioned him about the people that were still there from when we were there last (11 weeks ago), he replied we have 5 permanents and that we needed to worry about ourselves and not to worry about them. We then proceeded to let him know that we had spoken to John and he was aware of our length of stay and he responded with I don’t care what John said, this is how it is and that’s it. Little to say we packed up and moved on. This person needs to get some manners, especially when working with the public. Maybe the committee needs to look at who they have in this roll while John and his wife are on the mend.

John runs a great little park for travellers and harvest workers on a budget. Very relaxed and friendly environment. Bathrooms are clean and $2 for a load of washing! Not a lot of shade but you get to choose your own site which is great. We were there in the middle of summer so in the cooler months would not be an issue.Nice to see the trotters out training morning and afternoon. Excellent value and close to town.

A good place to make your base camp and then go and explore the surrounding areas... There is a basic camp kitchen. Showers and Toilets. Powered sites are easily accessible . Plenty of bins to put your bagged rubbish in.The entrance is easy to overlook as the signage is faded. Look for the Huge indoor sports shed and Carpark then you will see the entrance road.John was very helpful in assisting me with all my questions as I had made a last minute decision to find a place to base camp at Easter. No bookings are taken... ring before heading there. The showground is very close to all the shops and petrol station's etc..

A wonderful show-ground so close to town and steeped in history. The Great harness racing track holds such memories for me, and reminds me of horses I drove there including Hyperking, Wilpena Prince, September Showers, Let It Go, and Benji Black.
