Mouth of Kolan River Conservation Park
It's a 5-7km walk along the beach from Moore Park to the mouth of the Kolan River. It's more difficult at high or rising tide because of soft sand and snags on the beach. There's an estuary and mangroves to the west of the beach, separated by a thin strip of sand. Arriving at the river mouth, there's a view about 1km across the water to Miara Holiday Park. It's a 50km drive one way to there from Moore Park.An island across a small channel blocks any view of the main river mouth, but it's still a scenic, natural site and dolphins were observed swimming close to shore. The only route back is the same way.Allow about two and a half hours for the 13km return walk, depending on where you start.
