This is a well organised regional airport. I'd have to say that getting through security has always been a seamless process. The food options at the Castle Hill Cafe are great, and there's options to have a beer before your flight if that's what you want.

The airport has been given a major revamp and feels like a proper airport now.More space inside the departure lounge and workspaces for laptop warriors.Security has been updated, not many people going through when I was travelling so could not gauge the speed of the security lane.There is a smoking bay, at the opposite end, for smokers.

Small airport, very quiet when we landed. Friendly service. About 10-15 min drive from town, cost $25 taxi to main ferry terminal for Magnetic Island. Suggest the fast ferry (20 mins) over the car ferry (40 mins).

The electric stairs are always broken.. in all the 2 years of living in this town going back and forths as a frequent traveler, I have never seen them work. You should get rid of them! What an absolute rubbish!

A great airport. Simple to get through from check in to the gate. Clean, modern and very spacious. Small food court after security is very clean with good seating but the gate area has limited seating, which seems to be common for most airports. Somehow if you choose to sit on the seats you end up being one of the last on the plane because everyone who stands forms the queue no matter how early you get there. But that's not a fault of the airport. Outside, the pickup and drop off area is sensible with parking spaces on both sides on the roadway.

Townsville Airport has improved so much in last couple of years, security screening has been upgraded you don't need to take your laptop out of the bag each time for security screen. Entire floor is now carpeted, few choices for drinks and food but there is a potential for more food shops like donuts and kids food. Baggage collection made easy but the luggage trolleys are still the old fashioned. Facilities are really good.

Good size airport. One cafe at the entrance, more pass security. Pick up drop off zone near front door - great. Clean areas and toilets.

Arriving at Townsville airport is like arriving in a country town rather than a regional major city.This is my fourth trip in the last two months and the only escalator in the whole place had been our of order for all of this time. The only lift is soooo slow the line up for the use of this is longer than the staircase.The Qantas Club is tiny, but when it is open (this is rare) it is incredibly shabby and tired. The furniture is torn, stuffing showing on the arm chairs and leather seats are dirty and very worn.There is no undercover parking in long stay which is unusual in a warm climate city.The staff at check-in at Qantas were grumpy and unpleasant on this last occasion at 0600hrs.Not mirroring the patrons start of holiday vibes.Kind of goes with the job to deal with people in the early hours.Big room for improvement compared to Cairns

Relatively clean. Plenty of charging points.But... Limited seats near charging points. Limited food choices (2 cafes offering similar fare). Both escalators took a while to fix. Why can't one be fixed after another?
