Stathams Quarry

Great drive down via #ZigZagScenicDrive and a short walk after parking the car to get to the peak of Stratham's Quarry. Very Scenic and easily accessible. Work a try.

A great adventure day. We drove up the hills via Kalumunda Road, turned left onto Williams Street, accessing the Gooseberry Hill Zig-Zag Scenic Drive. We parked at the second sharpest turn, which is the most northerly zig - or would that be the zag (?) There's plenty of parking space between the road and the green/silver/white gate, where you'll be facing westerly with big wide views across the Perth landscape, taking in the city, the airport and everything to the coast.A visit at night would provide a beautiful vista with the sun setting and the lights coming on.We took a walk around the perimeter. We are very disappointed to see so much graffiti. It is a short trail around to the top of the quarry, facing more northerly with excellent views across Perth.We followed the trail around the top rim of the quarry where there are multiple anchoring points from the many repelling visitors. See the Blue Tree on the northern side. Google Blue Tree Project.We skipped the stairs down into the quarry thinking that we could drive around. There is access into the bottom of the quarry however it is via a locked gate (when I find out why, then I will update) however we could see two vehicles in the quarry. When we drove down the zig-zag onto Ridge Hill Road, there were three vehicles parked at the locked gate preventing anyone else from driving through. Oh well, that's a trip for another weekend.

The Stathams Quarry is just a short walk off Gooseberry Zig Zag Scenic Drive. The latter in itself is a pleasant one way drive downward where you can stop regularly to take in the view and the fresh air. There is a also a 100 steps trail from the top to the bottom of the quarry.

Basically a drive-in climbing gym. Plenty of grades from beginner to advanced

Great spot close to Perth for a day out. The quarry itself is well setup for rock climbing, care must be taken as this is not a supervised site.There is a walking trail around the quarry which allows you some great views and photo opportunities.There is a fenced off area which houses the old quarry building, access here is restricted for safety but it is easy to get in and have a look around if you wish. There is some graffiti here which is nice to photograph.
