Steak and kidney pie was delicious. Bit too hot inside like any fresh pie. A plate and cutlery would've been handy if you dine in. Apple pie was not too sweet, perfect.

really wanted to love this place - really charming little pie shop with good warm service. had the chicken camembert, beef and also the apple pie. fillings in all three were great though pie crust let's it down - I'm afraid it wasn't flakey and chewy - felt more dense and bready (not in a good way). was comparing with red neds gourmet pies from jevis bay (awesome pies).

I had high expectations with a shop claiming to be 'famous', sad to say the pies here we're not very nice at all. For the price you definitely don't get what you pay for. $7 for a steak and mushroom pie that had miserable amount of filling and very bland tasting. Was expecting chunks of slow cooked steak but was grinded dry meat instead. I would have been happy with a service station pie. Also the young service assistant was as bland as the pies. No welcome, no smile. Feels the place lacks love.

The famous Illawarra Pie shop is probably somewhere everyone identifies with about Robertson, having been a stalwart in the area since 1961. It’s like a rite of passage to buy a pie if you’re in the area or passing through.They’re nothing crazy fancy, but your old school pie, thin pastry filled with sweet and savoury ingredients. Whether it be your favourite meat or curry fillings and plenty with fruit insides too, like the cherry pie. They also do family sizes.They’ve also got a mighty big vanilla slice, muffins, custard tarts, donuts and Portuguese tarts.Plenty of parking, quick service and ample room to sit and enjoy your pie if not taking it away.

Lovely pies, great choice, clearly a very popular and busy destination. Fast efficient service despite being very busy. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone passing by.

Drove pass this famous pie shop with high hopes for a tasty lunch. Ordered a meat pie and an apple pie. Meat pie was good, apple pie, no so much. It was cold. The staff seemed like they did not know what they were doing and there’s no “supervisor”. Asked if there’s tap water to drink and the guy almost seemed like he has never heard of tap water. Few seconds later pointed me at the fridge and said “oh yea there’s water there”. As you can see in the photo, portugese tart on display was burnt. You would expect better from such a famous pie shop. Been to many “famous” pie shops and this is definitely at the bottom of the list.

What a great find this pie shop was.I ordered a steak bacon and cheese pie, my daughter had a sausage roll.We also ordered a family apple pie and a chicken leek and camembert pie to have tomorrow nights dinnerMy pie tasted fabulous and my daughter loved her sausage roll as well.Was very busy so be prepared to wait a while, but worth the wait.Also watch out for traffic as tis on a busy main road.

Fast service, clean premises. Have not been here in 10 plus years but stopped for a takeaway lunch on our back from Berry to Canberra. Steak & Kidney Pie was OK, sausage roll very average indeed. Would I stop again, probably if hungry yes, but no sausage roll next time.
