Waverley Distillery

We arrived unannounced at the Waverley Distillery in Orford Tasmania where Mike was kind enough to open up the cellar door and host a private tasting. Mike told us of his family history & the fascinating creation of The Assyrian (racehorse) Gin. Being of Assyrian (race) descent we exchanged some of our family’s stories, history and heritage. Clearly no known connection between the two world’s but a serendipitous encounter has brought us together. Looks like it’s going to be a great gin bond going forward. Very impressive gin made from rhubarb grown on the familys’ farm. Love our gin and more than happy to support Australian owned artisan products. small batch family distillery, we had the pleasure of a private tasting with Mike and family. absolutely delicious Gins with a great background story. Public cellar door plans are on the go so keep an eye out, the views are amazing. highly recommend to all Gin lovers and newbies.

Exceptional artisan Tassie Gin, loved the tastings and backstory. Michael was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the distilling process and local botanicals used to create their lovely Gins in great detail. Highly recommended.

Sophie was the ultimate hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed the gins. Highly recommend a visit.
