Toast the Sun

Watching the sun rise over the ocean at Australia’s most easterly point – Cape Byron – will never get old. As we stood together leaning over the fence, coffees in hand, a light and nature show played out before us. A rock wallaby stopped for a look-see and whales played about 200 metres off shore as the sun forced its way through the last of a storm clouds that had passed the coast hours before. It was a cool morning but we were warmed by blankets and heat packs supplied by Katie from Toast the Sun, a unique Byron experience that made this particular Byron Bay sunrise all the more memorable.I’d come across Toast the Sun via our chosen accommodation for the weekend, The Bower and I’d kept the experience a surprise from the husband to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Apart from the warm coffee and our prime position sunrise-watching spot, we were able to access car parking inside the lighthouse grounds but the big, big drawcard of this experience was the spectacular private breakfast served up to us while perched high above Wategos Beach.Katie only ever books a maximum of four people for this experience, so you might be with another couple, but on our day we had it all to ourselves. She kept in contact with me throughout the week about the weather but the heavy rain of the night before gave way to a beautiful morning.The food was nothing short of incredible, all made from scratch by Katie using locally sourced products.

We loved our Toast The Sun experience this morning. I booked the experience for my family and I as a surprise birthday experience, which was so nice to be able to share the experience together. We sat with hot water bottles, blankets and warm fresh coffees made by Katie, watching the sun rise and spotting whales. After the sun had risen we went down to the private area for our 3 course DELICIOUS breakfast. They catered perfectly for me as a vegan, I even got waffles too! Everything was freshly made from scratch and the table setting was also beautiful. I loved that each dish came out spaced apart so we could use the private space and view for a couple of hours. Everything was perfect! :)

The most beautiful, romantic and delicious way to start the day! Catching the first rays of sun, sipping on coffees while snuggled up warm with hot water bottles and blankets, while we watch all the whales go past! And then the breakfast!!! 5-star cafe quality, farm-to-table goodness! The number one table in all of Byron Bay, with the most bespoke table setting and you feel like you are the only two people up there, overlooking the start of a new day in the Bay.Priceless ❤️

This was a sensational experience and the highlight to our week in Byron. Katie is so personable and welcoming; she made us feel so special and her service is second to none. The food is to die for and each of the three courses was delicious and decadent. It was a coolish morning and Katie had hot water bottles and throw rugs at the ready. This was an exceptional way to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Thanks Katie, there was nothing we didn't love about our experience.

Quite simply the best experience you can do in Byron Bay. I booked this as part of my wife's 30th celebrations and the exceptional experience started straight away! Katie and her team were excellent at communicating, helping with difficult dietary requirements and offering advice for transport and things to do in Byron. The experience itself was wonderful, we were greeted upon arrival with warm drinks and hot water bottles, the team were so friendly and attentive. As for the food and setting for your breakfast, probably the best breakfast I've ever experienced! Food is outstanding and the presentation faultless.Would highly recommend this for anyone visiting Byron Bay, thank you so much to Katie and her team for such a magnificent morning!

Every part of this divine sunrise experience is exceptional - from the iconic Byron Lighthouse location and breath-taking panoramic views, to the truly delectable fresh food and 5 star treatment! Katie is an absolute gem and makes you feel rockstar special. This is the stuff life-long holiday memories are made of!

We had the most amazing morning celebrating our honeymoon at Toast the Sun. Katie was very attentive and made sure all our needs were met. They supplied blankets and hot water bottles for the colder morning.The food was delicious! All locally sourced and homemade, was one of the best breakfast we’ve had here in Byron. A beautiful way to celebrate our first week of marriage! Super special, would highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing experience. As someone who grew up in the area, seeing sunrise at the lighthouse was not new for me. But seeing it this way was unreal. An item off my bucketlist has been ticked and I left starting the day on a high. A must do for anyone in the area.Every little detail was thought of and catered for, from home grown produce off the farm in the centre of town, handmade bread for the burrito, to the posting of personalised postcards, stamped and posted in an old red letterbox. Nothing was too much for Katie and her team.

We received this experience as a wedding gift and were so thankful as it is something we wouldn't have booked ourselves but really thoroughly enjoyed! Katie was super attentive throughout the entire experience and curated the most delicious three-course breakfast for us. We will be talking about it for ages! Not to mention the absolutely stunning views and scenery. Highly recommended for any couples holidaying in Byron!

From start to finish, this was such an amazing experience. Katie is professional, warm and thinks of every little detail to make the Toast the Sun experience so memorable.When making a booking, Katie was prompt in her reply. Being vegetarian (no eggs) Katies allowed me to choose from the two menus - seasonal and vegan.Katie kept me in the loop in the lead up to the event day. If the weather is bad, the experience is cancelled and you get your money back.Thankfully we had amazing weather and a gorgeous sunrise.Katie met us at the bottom gate and had hot water bottles and blankets ready. She set up our little spot in front of the lighthouse and took our hot drink orders. It was so lovely watching the sun rise, and the whales migrate as we sipped on our coffee and hot chocolate.Katie did not rush us and let us take our time to finish up with the sunrise and make our way to the cafe.Katie had a little spot set up just for us, which looked out onto the bay where we saw some dolphins. Katie informed us that she only take 1 or 2 bookings per experience (or just 1 large party) so that it is an intimate and special experience.The three course meal was just devine. The food was all fresh, healthy and delicious. The attention to detail in the food and the setting/decor was beautiful.Katie's warmth and beautiful nature makes you instantly comfortable and when chatting with her, it feels like an old friend that you've re-connected with. This is part of the Toast the Sun charm.Overall I would highly recommend booking a Toast the Sun experience if you're ever in Byron. Katie goes above and beyond and it truly is an experience to remember.
