Good service and friendly staff. Comfortable waiting room and facilities for my daughter's exam. The lady who did my daughter's exam was lovely and gave some good feedback. The entrance to the building is not particularly well marked but Google Maps got me there. I had to push the buzzer and the lady sitting at a pop up table inside the door let us in.

I have walked my students through exams at the AMEB for the last decade now, always being an advocate, but now the variance in marks based on examiners has become way too noticeable. It's become more about hoping you get a good examiner that doesn't mark harshly than it is about getting a fair shot. Time to look elsewhere for exams!

AMEB it is a very good environment for musicians to show case their skills to the professionals and get ranked. It is a very quiet and very good mannered staff.

My student took his exam with a Dr Micaela Nathan and she was so unfriendly and curt. Asked questions that were out of the syllabus and then belittled my student. Worse thing is lodged an appeal with AMEB and 5 months later am still chasing for their reply. I wish there was another examining body for music in Australia besides AMEB.

AMEB released a new syllabus for the practical exam and I had some questions that I needed to clarify because it impacts our decisions. So, I rang, this girl (she sounded young and not the usual person that I talked to) answered the phone and she was very rude. I have not even finish asking the questions and she just hangup on me.

AMEB is far too slow with uploading exam results. As other people have also mentioned on here, the results are far too varying. Never have I had a report from preliminary grade level that was so demanding and discouraging to a young person just starting out. They also like to change the rules so frequently and information is scattered. The new syllabus for keyboard is also terrible.

The lady at the counter was nice and helpful. My examiner was nice and friendly, even to the state that we had a small conversation before I entered the examination room. Although the customer service is good, the building is not the best. The lobby where you have to wait in, is so stuffy that I had to remove a jacket that I wore. (Please note that this is in winter). But once you enter the centre, boi it is a whole change. It's freezing as if it was a meat cooler room! ❄️❄️❄️

Not encouraging of young musicians. Gave amazing marks through grades, then Bamm failed student on the AMus, even though she played at extramely high level. Unfair and more importantly discouraged student...she hardly plays the instrument now.

I phoned today to politely enquire about AMEB requirements as a new teacher, since it had been difficult to find accurate and up to date info on grade requirements for certain instruments.Unfortunately I was not treated very well, and instead told to buy their $9.99 guideline book after I had waited for 15 minutes on the phone to speak with someone. If AMEB seeks to create a reputation where customer service is not valued and to instead tell customers to be a better teacher and do better research

We did not send our child to the brass instrument exam on Saturday because of RAT-negative respiratory symptoms, out of concern for the well-being of the examiner and in compliance with the exam instructions. She was well-prepared and well enough to perform well.I have now been advised, by telephone, that a transfer will only be processed, at an additional cost of 50%, if there is another space available (and it will be inconveniently located). We thought we were doing the right thing, but are being penalised for it.Overall I would recommend only getting examined at the Diploma level.
