Maldon Caravan and Camping Park

Don't go to this Park if you want glitz, show & screaming kids. Sure its a little old & tired, but also quiet & peaceful in a lovely bush setting.We are seasoned remote campers & find that these little gems are becoming harder to find, so if you are looking for peace & convenience,this could be your answer. Suitable for small rigs only & plenty of cabin accommodation.Maldon is a five minute walk which offers historical architecture, great eateries & interesting shops.

Lovely bush caravan park within easy walking distance to town. Woken by nature: magpies, wrens and frogs and kangaroos in abundance. I enjoyed a self contained cabin for one and had no issues. Thoroughly recommend and I would come back again.

A member of staff was genuinely hostile and unfriendly to my elderly parents (long time attendees of this caravan park) They arrived at 2pm and parked waiting for the office to open at 230 and were very forcefully asked to leave the whole site immediately. Incredibly poor service from the towns only caravan park. I distinctly hope the council gives the lease to someone more composed.

Being a long weekend, this was fantastically quiet place to stay.Yet walking distance to town CBD.So quiet, we were the only caravan staying. This caravan park is gem of a site. Not suitable for really big vans, but does have good Optus/Telstra and TV coverage and the price was 40P/N.A big plus if looking just outside Castlemaine, some 15mins away.The council owned park, well, to be honest, it does needs some love to make it shine again.

Staff are very unhelpful. I arrived an hour early and was told to leave the caravan park and return when they were open. Not very customer friendly

The park itself is probably quite lovely, but we encountered a very unfriendly member of staff contact us and confront us via phone call regarding our booking. We had made the error, took accountability for it and apologised as we didn't intend nor realise we'd done wrong and we opted to cancel (2 weeks out) and take the refund which was forthcoming, but there was nothing professional nor friendly in the call nor basic phone etiquette. It was actually, just rude and nasty and was a horrible experience attempting to book. We felt so yuck after the horrible late night encounter we considered holidaying elsewhere. But by all accounts the rest of Maldon is a very friendly little community that we would love to come and spend some time and tourism dollars.

Didn't actually stay here. We arrived at 5.20pm, looking for an unpowered site. The office closes at 5pm so we called the suggested number, apologising for the late arrival. The woman who answered said. 'We can't help you tonight. The office is closed. You will have to leave.' So we left. There were plenty of sites and we could have paid in the morning. Oddly inhospitable. Won't go back.

When i attended to gain a site - the same thing happened to me as per the review below . There was a sign on the door that said not open till 2pm and call this phone number. I got there at 12.45. They further said leave and come back at 2pm The park was empty. They could have said find a spot- come pay at 2pm . Not surprised that the park was empty. I also found the elderly lady who answered the phone rude. I do not think she was intentionally rude but rather needs to learn some manners. They lost three nights stay as we moved on. I do not recommend this place at all. There are far better places with better managers and far nicer parks for the money.

Normally I don't place negative reviews. But others need to be warned. My friend booked this place online for us. In the end, we all decided to forego our pre-paid fees rather than deal with the hostile customer service and rigid attitude and policies. Given the abrupt and rude way my friend was spoken to before we got there, we decided things were unlikely to improve and sought a last minute booking elsewhere. Information that's not on the booking platforms but is important for you to know is that they allow no check-ins before 2pm and there are no fire-pits. We got a last minute booking in Castlemaine and the customer service and flexibility was an excellent contrast. If you can't be flexible, friendly or accommodating perhaps you shouldn't be in the accommodation business. We noticed they were empty. My advice is to ring them and check their policies before you book online.

I have never been met with such rudeness or rigidity from a caravan park host. After making two online bookings followed up by two extremely unpleasant phone calls with one of the hosts, we decided to go elsewhere rather than staying somewhere where we felt completely unwelcome. Such a shame as this is the only caravan park in Maldon. Luckily we found a lovely park nearby whose staff were friendly, considerate and hospitable. As it should be.
