Suncare Community Services Maroochydore Day Respite Centre

Annaliese (Anna) Mieszchala1921 - 2014I started caring for my mother, Annaliese (Anna) Mieszchala on a full-time basis in January 2008. Anna moved into my home at that time and started going to the Maroochydore Day Respite Centre on a regular basis.Anna, was excited about going to ‘work’ as we called it on a daily basis and enjoyed getting ready for the bus to come and pick her up and take her to the ‘respite centre’ where she quickly made a lot of very good friends with other clients, staff and volunteer staff.As the years progressed Anna became a regular client of the Maroochydore Day Respite Centre and our routine became normal and expected. It was only on occasions of illness or carer respite that Anna did not attend the centre.It is my firm belief that Anna’s life had purpose while she was able to attend this centre and that because of the care, attention and activities that the staff of this centre organised prolonged her life, giving her great joy and enabled me as carer the assistance I needed to keep my mother at home for such a long period of time.My mother has unfortunately passed away now, she left me on June 24th 2014 and there is not a day goes by that I don’t think of her or miss her. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and volunteers at the Maroochydore Day Respite Centre for the wonderful care they took of my mother for the six years that she attended the centre.This centre is a wonderful place where the elderly are continued to be treated as valued community members and gives family the opportunity to continue to care for their loved ones in a home environment.Thank you to all at the Maroochydore Day Respite Centre, for all the care and loving attention you gave my mother Annaliese (Anna) and for the wonderful memories I am left with for the last years of my mother’s life.Kindest regardsPhoebe Rainer (daughter).
