I hesitated because most of the staff didn't look Asian or Chinese, so I wasn't sure if it was a real Chinese restaurant. But I decided to try and enjoy very delicious Chinese food.Fried rice was very special and flavorful. The appetizers and dumplings made with duck meat also tasted great. The outdoor table was cool under the shade of a tree. It was fun to sit there with my dog.The staff were also friendly.According to information on the counter there was no surcharge if I paid by Eftpos, but my actual bill included surcharge. I would like to ask the owner for a clear explanation on this part. It's not a lot of money, but it's a matter of trust with customers. But I will visit again because the food was delicious and the staff was kind.

Spacious restaurant with well portioned and priced food. I had the beef cheek and chillie chicken. The beef cheek was the star of the show for me. It was well cooked and falling apart. The sauce was well balanced with sweet, sour and spicy elements that freshened up the dish and cut through the richness of the beef.

Always love dining under the fairy lit trees at Happy Boy! Normally I indulge in their chef’s banquet as it is fabulous value for money and it’s always fun not knowing what dishes we’re about to receive. Recently however, I decided to order a la carte as it was just a friend and I and everything was outstanding and hit the spot! The mapo tofu was spicy yet not overpowering, and the Taiwanese chicken bun was crispy and juicy. The only sad part of this particular experience at Happy Boy was that they ran out of hoisin for the Peking duck pancakes - serious first world problems. Can’t wait for many more meals at Happy Boy!

I had to scroll through the most recent reviews to make sure nobody else said this, but I couldn’t find anything SOOOO. This place sure made me a Happy Boy! We didn’t make a reservation but they sat us down at a table that had a reservation in an hours time. They assured us the food would come out quickly so we sat down. BAM food out in the first 10 minutes! It was all very flavourful, well portioned and extremely tender! Nothing missed and they were all straight bangers. Wait staff were very attentive and polite, felt like fine dining without the price tag! Love it, not many places I would say “I’d come back here to try something else”. Good job Good Boy on raising Brisbane’s food game!

Service was a bit hit and miss. Our waitress was great, but other waitstaff seemed like they were searching for things to do. They might have been in training? We also would have stayed for another drink but reservation was only 90minutes long. The timing on the food and wine were good, the wine, grenache being the choice, was savoured and went really well with the meal. The space has a very relaxed feel particularly on the expansive outdoor deck area which is wonderfully lit by the fairy lights in the trees. Inside is also open but naturally it has a different dining feel. As for the food it was all good, especially the eggplant, and the green beans - well elevated by the salty black bean pairing. The duck was perfectly cooked but the sauce was the most flavourful component of the dish. The lamb with the crumb was a little dry and heat was the overwhelming sensation for me. I’d return for the space, food and wine.

Finally went to Happy Boy for the first time. We ordered the $49 banquet, there were a lot of food for this price. The food was much better than I expected, tasted authentic Cantonese flavour to me, thought some dishes didn’t tasted like were freshly cooked. It was a packed crazy Friday night but we didn’t need to wait long for food. Happy to come back again.

I have visited this place multiple times, and each time the food has consistently been amazing. However, I must admit that the service has usually been below average. Fortunately, during our most recent visit, we were fortunate enough to have Astrid as our server, and she truly elevated our dining experience to a whole new level.

House fried rice is absolutely top-notch, with a dry and fragrant texture, which it's supposed to be. It comes with rich layers of flavor and distinct grains of rice. When combined with duck meat, it's a perfect match. The chef has also come up with a creative addition of pickled vegetables, ithelps cut through the greasiness. Nice one.The Beef Chow Ho Fun is excellent, with a good wok aroma and heat, without any excess oil lingering on the top surface of the plate. This is the most basic requirement for a bowl of Cantonese-style Beef Chow Ho Fun.The only downside is that the roast duck is slightly dry (see picture), and the duck meat has lost its juiciness. However, the plum sauce served alongside is fantastic. If you could improve the roasting time of the duck, it would be perfect. The service is incredibly fast, and the prices are reasonable. The staff is enthusiastic and friendly, making it a delightful experience to have a working lunch here.

A friend of mine took me here for dinner and decided to share plates. The food was very tasty and perfectly spiced. We mostly ordered vegitarian food and one beef dish which was melt in the mouth. Pricing is a bit on the high side. Whilst the food and service is great, I think the design of the building makes the place really loud so it is hard to have a conversation whilst having dinner, hence the 4 stars. I would recommend trying this place out but maybe consider taking an alfresco seat rather than indoor.
